Default Lights turn on by themselves!

During the day yesterday my exterior truck lights came on as if I unlocked the doors. Problem is the fob was 20 feet away laying on a table for hours, and I never went near it. Is there some weird electrical problems going on? Anyone else see this or just blew it off as a one time event? I don't drive it often so I don't know how often this happens or if it ever happened before. Truck is on a maintainer 24/7. When this happened, it was not and I was lucky to be looking at it when it happened. 256 miles on the clock. Can the vehicle detect the fob from 20 feet away and turn the lights on ***** nilly? Anyone else experience this or similar? Reading a lot about dead batteries and parasitic drain so I am curious.

Ha, that's funny because mine also came on yesterday around 6pm or so. I have a camera over our garage and a google display in our office is usually streaming the camera and I happened to notice it. I assumed I just got up and hit the button from the FOB in my pocket or something. I hit the lock button and everything went back off.

I don't know why yours did it, or mine, still could have just been a coincidence and I did hit a button on my FOB when standing up. Just funny that you noted it and we both saw it. Definitely not something I have seen often.

Check your fridge and make sure the light goes on and off when you open door. If not, he's outside messing with your truck.

LOL...Interesting indeed. Mine was unlocked at the time and always is, since it sits in my detached garage which is always locked. Ever see the movie Christine!

Mine come on when I walk by with the FOB in my pocket. It's rather annoying because if I'm working in my shop, my truck lights keep coming on every 10 seconds.

It could be the welcome lighting. I think it’s called approach lighting or something similar. When it senses you walking towards the truck it’ll light up. I had this happen to mine when the fob was in my pocket and I was putting my kids to bed and looked out the window to see my truck all lit up in the driveway. I turned mine off. It was more annoying than it was convenient.

My 2013 did this same thing. Driven one day. Left overnight. Next morning completely dead. Nothing. Like 5 volts.

Dealer never replicated. Would work find for a year then come back. Finally just sold it.

Sounds like your truck is possessed. My advice is to have a spiritual medium try to contact the spirit and see if it is friendly or not. If that doesn't work to contact a priest to have an exorcism .

Check the switch on the inside of your door. I had a GM truck that the lights would come on and drain the battery because the door wasn’t making proper contact with the switch.
