Nope.

 

You can do it. Maybe not using the OEM lights unless you want to modify the circuit/switch. You could use some aftermarket lights with a tailgate switch. There are ways. Just depends.

I did not get the bed lighting cause I thought it was included like it was on my 18 and how ford's website listed it as standard. I installed this kit so it's hooked into the proximity lights or anytime you hit the unlock button. There was some wire running to do this but the instructions and video are pretty good.
