Default I am the Other Guy

As in, it only happens to the "Other Guy". My 2021 5.0 F150 developed some hard shifting issues. It started to get really bad, to the point where my wife commented on it. Made an appointment with my local dealer and when I brought it in, the service writer told me it would be a $199 transmission diagnostic fee. I reminded her of the 5 year/ 60K mile powertrain warranty. She advised that if they found something that would be covered under warranty, the fee would be waived. As my transmission was displaying all the issues common with the 10 speed, I went ahead and authorized it.

Well, I got the phone call yesterday confirming issues with the transmission. They are doing additional pressure tests before determining if it will be a service issue or a replacement issue. She also told me that they would not be able to work on it for at least one month.

Vehicle information:
Year: 2021
Body: 4 Dr Super Crew w/5.5 bed
Model: XLT w302A Package
Mileage: 45,261

Yep. Ford needs to replace your transmission with the newer redesigned one. Period. It should all be covered under powertrain.

What specifically were the shifting issues you were having?

Yep and I can't believe a 5.0 is having issues.

The transmissions in the 2.7, 3.5 and 5.0 are the same 10 speed right?

The transmission is not the engine.

I got the call Tuesday morning that the line pressure test was normal so the TSB doesn't apply and the transmission needs to be rebuilt. This will take up to 5 weeks and I have to leave the truck there. No loaner cars from the dealer. Fortunately it's riding season and I have a number of trips planned on the bike so it isn't a huge inconvenience.

Question asked above about the issues I was experiencing - HARD shift from 3-4 and 6-7. HARD downshift to 1st gear. Squishy shifts between all other gears except 9-10.

The transmission has nothing to do with my 5.0 engine. My engine is just fine. Nice performance, tows well, and excellent fuel mileage (when not towing).
