Default Higher Temp with AC off?

2024 F150 with 2.7 runs right around 190 coolant and oil temperatures with AC on.

When AC is off it runs at 205 to 210 coolant and oil tempersture. Had anyone had this issue?

Why would the truck run so much cooler with AC on. I feel the cooler temperatures with AC on is better for the engine so I keep it on. The truck has 8500 miles and this temperature issue has been going on since I bought it.

It's totally normal in most cars. When your AC is ON your fans are running for the AC refrigerant therefore it also cools the coolant running in your radiator. But when your AC is off your fans doesn't work until the temperature reaches certain high level then it turns ON until your temp will go down to the desired temperature.

Do others have a 2.7 that runs at 210 with AC off? Google says operating temps can go to 220 with normal conditions. I think that can't be good long term for these motors.

What conditions are you seeing those temps (city driving, highway, light or moderate loads)? I'd think cruising on the highway at a leisurely pace should not show much if any difference between AC on and off as there is enough airflow through the radiator. City driving will tend to have higher temps until the fans kick on, or AC is turned on as that runs the fan as well for the condenser.

Google and Ford know the proper temps for engines to operate, your brain comes from an earlier time. The best way to monitor the truck's temp is not to look at the gauge until the computer designed by Ford indicates a problem.

So I’ll go agains the norm here. Yes the vehicles are designed and engineered for a certain temp. But the computers also pull timing and change the fuel trims at higher temps.

On my 2024 2.7 I put the ford factory 180* T-stat and popped some of the shutters out.

Stays 180-185 all the time with the a/c on or off.
