Default High Rev on startup

Lately it is been about 0 degrees and I know when you start the vehicle it revs high for a little bit. Lately though when I remote start my vehicle it seems like it has been reving to high. For instance today I remote started it and by the time I got in the truck and looked at the temp gauge and it was already at normal range (half way). When I looked at my rpm's I noticed that it was sitting still at a steady 1500 even when I actually turned the vehicle on. I know at operating temp it usually sits just below 1,000. Anybody else have this problem?

It is not an issue it is designed this way.

Its cold. It is how it warms its self.

I understand it is cold, but revinh that high for that long seems excessive.

People want to get into a warm vehicle or a cooled down vehicle when you remote start them. To do this the engine has to run at a higher RPM to warm the coolant up so it can warm up the vehicle. It stays that way until all the computers can report they have reached the temp called for. While in Remote start most of the computers are off line, when the vehicle is started they all come on line and start talking to each other. All that takes time. You can bring it to the dealer, but you will waisting their time and yours.

As mentioned its normal to run higher rpms on remote start. Even on a truck as basic as mine.

Mine tends to slow down rpms somewhere around the 10 minute mark. I haven't timed it, but I have heard it come down.

This is normal. This is a DOHC/4V Coyote engine. Don't worry about it. It's just fine.

On deeper cold starts, the starter can pull as much as 100 amps for the crank duration plus all the regular current drains the whole truck uses, at that time.
The higher idle gets to begin recharging the Battery more quickly.
It's all under the BMS control to open throttle body a bit to let more air pass.
Only small thing to be a where is that putting in gear can result is a jerk at that RPM because it tries to move the truck a lot sooner than at 600 rpm.
Can't get away from it. The Converter lock-up has not yet happened so you get the Turbine fluid slip at a higher RPM that tries to move the truck.
My 2018 will do the same if going into reverse when RPM is high. Same a putting foot on throttle, then into gear.
All normal unless you want it to >not allow< moving the truck until the idle comes down. Don't think anyone would want that when the driver cam makes the decision to wait.
Good luck.
