Question help adding kicker sub upgrade to 23 lariat

so i have a new lariat with the B&O system without the sub. i just bought the kicker stealth system but im having an issue on the install. the issue is with the 3 wires that go to the back of the radio module. i found the pin locations but there is a wire in the spot where the purple wire would go. has anyone run into this problem? i made an appointment to drop the truck off for the install but id like to figure this out so i can install it and only have to take them the truck to turn the sub on via the OBD port. that would be ideal verse leaving them the truck for 2 days. any input would be appreciated.

The kicker subwoofer (VML3Z-18808-A) is only for 7 speaker audio systems, not the 8 speaker system in your truck. If you install it, it will not work properly and you will not be able to load the correct equalizer file.

Ford does list this kit as also working for 6 speaker audio systems, but Kicker tech support has said that Ford is incorrect and it is only designed for 7-speaker audio systems. That being said, many people with the 7 speaker system also have issues getting the correct equalizer file to load and it would be best to avoid this system as it is not guaranteed to work properly.

I believe I have the 7 speaker setup. 4x door speakers, 2x tweeters and then a single center dash speaker. Where would the 8th be?

The 8th speaker is the factory B&O subwoofer mounted at the back of the cab, behind the rear seat, next to the DSP which mounts where the kicker kit is supposed to go. The wire you have in pin 23 is a YE-VT wire going between the ACM and the DSP.

DSP

B&O Sub

Think I could remove that pin and install the new wires/kicker sub and be successful?

I don't know exactly how that will impact your audio system, or what you would have to do to make it work, but you will not be able to program the kicker kit to your truck as you do not have the correct system or ACM installed. For that reason alone I would not install this kit as it sounds absolutely horrible when you cannot install the correct equalizer file.

You would be much better off buying a kit that is designed to work with your B&O sound system.

That's the best thing that could have happened to you. That system is very overpriced for the performance you get out of it. You are much better off with a self-amplified 8 or 10 inch bass tube for +/- $200.

correct, have to have the Ford dealer flash the vehicle for the proper setup.
