Default F250's Built Waiting on Electronics

An aerial map was circulating though a Ford employee website today showing a sea of SuperDuty trucks just sitting in Louisville. It said there were 50,000 trucks waiting on electronic modules so they can be completed and shipped to dealers. I've honestly never seen so many vehicles in one place. I think the Muhammed Ali Airport property is where many are stashed.

One person came on and said you've not seen anything compared to the much faster selling F150's sitting in Kansas City and Dearborn factories. It's still unclear if the Japanese electronics factory that burned is back on line after being rebuilt. Many Ford employees are appalled that any company would not have numerous sources of such important parts--and domestic companies too.

It's going to take quite sometime before the vehicles can be delivered. American trucking of all kinds is simply overwhelmed at the present time.

I wouldn't bet on it. Sure they will develop a few more suppliers for now but at some point accounting will cut those more expensive suppliers from the approved list.

I wonder how many of those trucks will be destroyed instead of sold due to age. I would hope none but then why would anyone buy a 2020 or 2021, pay new prices, when there are "newer" model years. Or do they plan on not making vehicles once production of electronics ramps up.

I'm hoping Ford will start selling them at wholesale prices once the chips show up since they will be "outdated" models and Ford will be flooding the market with all of these trucks at the same time. On the other hand, it's also possible that there is so much pent up demand that Ford will sell these trucks just as fast as they can put chips in them and then there won't be any discounts.

I would consider moving from my 2018 to a 2021 if they do offer some big discounts. But for now I'm just going to sit back and see what happens.
