Default Exit gracefully - diagnostics settings - screen is black resolved

(let truck turn off completely for 5 minutes before turning back on reset the panel.)

Well I dun broke it. Wanted to see if there were any theme options in the test settings. Curiousness got the best of me and I clicked a button called “exit gracefully.” The screen went totally black and I can’t get it to turn back on, radio won’t work, CarPlay connects but screen is off. Only way to make screen turn on is to throw it in reverse. Goes off as soon as it’s changed from reverse. Any tips?

Attempts to fix:

tried pressing the screen off button no go.

tried pressing diagnostics button combo again and nothing.

pressed all over screen no response

pressed buttons under screen no go

turned truck off and back on still black

May need to look up the fuse and try pulling that, should return it to defaults.

Other thing to note is, you said turned truck off and back on, the module that runs the screen usually stays "on" for a minute after you shut the truck off and exit. If this just happened, I would go out and check again now.

In the previous gen there was a combination of buttons to reset the APIM, I think it was seek forward and power... something like that. I know what I need to hit in the truck, just having trouble picturing it. That may also be worth a shot.

Have you tried to reboot the APIM by holding the volume down and fast forward buttons on the steering wheel for 10 seconds?

NVM. It’s power + rewind

My screen did that Sunday out of the blue, I went to leave and it did it's Ford logo thing then just went black. The radio wouldn't play but the back up cam worked. I ended up pulling the negative battery cable.
That worked and it hasn't done it since. My truck only has 400 miles on it.
