Default Engine stutter while using cruise?

Is anyone else feeling a stutter while using cruise? Feels like an engine or transmission stutter while the truck is trying to maintain speed going up a grade small or large. Doesn’t seem to matter which gear it’s in or how fast you’re going. Seems to be the worse when the engine is reving between 1400 and 1600 rpm’s, but feel it throughout the rev range.

Anyone else experiencing or have any thoughts?

yes I experience the same issue climbing up a slight grade, while cruise it on. Definitely has a shutter while in 10thgear and in cruise. If it down shifts to 8th on mine, shutter is gone. I have the 2.7L eco with 1300km on it…

Sounds like another common problem of "lugging" the motor.
In order to save fuel, shift strategy is programmed to maintain low RPM.
back in the old day we were told not to lug a motor and surprisingly nobody complained about stuttering like the past 10 years or so.
Hit the minus button on your shifter to lock out the top gear, RPM will increase by a couple hundred RPM and your ride should be much smoother.

It's al little surprising the computer isn't capable of adjusting fuel delivery to prevent this, regardless, it's just lugging the motor too much for the condition.

You did stat that it happens at any speed and RPM but I'd like you to reconfirm that your truck has a stutter going up a hill, and not that it is RPM related.

I for one, and many others who have spent most of their driving an underpowered vehicles, can quickly and easily remedy this because we've never been able to drive a brick up a hill in 4th gear (overdrive) with a 200hp motor.

I have tried hitting the minus button and dropping gears. It definitely gets better with higher rpm’s, but doesn’t go away completely. I wondered if it was mainly just from lugging. I will say this truck downshifts much less than my previous 2.7 eco boost I had with the 6 speed. New one has 3.5 eco boost with 10 speed. I will see if it gets any better over time, and see what the dealer says at the first service.

thanks guys!

I too have the same issue but don’t see it as a problem, just a thing to work around. Couple of downshifts with the button prior to climbing the hill is easy and better for the engine. To me I remember the 3 speed plus overdrive vehicles of the past and this is so not that! This is #15 or 16 F150 for me. First one was a ‘72. This is hands down the nicest vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Had this issue with my '18, 20' and now 21'.
All had 2.7 with 10 speed.

'21 is definitely a huge improvement over '18 and 20", but still there.

'18 was in shop several times for this, never resolved, I traded it on cause couldn't stand it any longer. Driver seat would vibrate on cruise up small grades.

Seems the issue, at least in my experience, has improved each year.
