Default Does this sound reasonable?

I am thinking about selling or trading (preferably) my 2020 Silverado 1500 LT 4x4. It has 28,xxx miles. Very clean, no dents no dings - a lot of options for a LT. It stickered for $50,8xx I believe.

I am looking to get a 21 F150 XLT equipped to the 52-54k msrp range. I have no problem waiting a few months if it is a better deal to order one.

Based upon this information what do some experts estimate I should be able to trade for? If its more than 10K (honestly 7k is my magic number for a f150 that stickers at 54,xxx) I’m not going to go through with it and not going to bother any sales people. I own my truck outright and would not be financing, would write a check and hope to be out of the sales office within 1 hour at the most… I hate buying vehicles.

The one thing I may have going for me is it appears new vehicles are hard to come by and that brings the prices up for used - I could trade and drive spare car for a few months. They could go ahead and have my trade to take advantage of being able to sell it for a high price - if I had to wait 3 months so be it.

My thoughts are if I ordered one and only got a 10% off MSRP and they gave my 40k for trade I would be less thank 10K OTD. My thoughts are I could get a bigger discount ordering one than buying one off the lot due to such little stock?

Is this a pipe dream?

Xlt are going for around 10% off around here, before any PCO/etc. so that should be do able.

I have no idea what that trade is worth in this market.

"I want to be in and out in an hour"
Simple....tell them you want $7,000 for your trade and you will pay them $52,000 for the new truck. When they say the best they can do is give it to you for $54,000, pull up a chair and have them check the boxes on the sales invoice.

The more concern you have for money, the longer it will take to attempt to negotiate every last penny.
Plus you need to factor in the amount of time required to convince them you aren't going to help them out by not taking their finance offer.

My most recent purchase was about 6 hours from time I closed the door on my vehicle to start looking and test driving. Worse vehicle purchase experience I've ever had.
The one previous was okay but it did take time to have the sales person walk back and forth 3 times to get "the guy" to agree on the terms so we could finalize the plan.
