Default Dimpling on tailgate

Has anyone else noticed dimpling like this on the tailgate of their truck? This is a brand new truck ( < 1 week) and I haven't done anything with it other than a grocery run so I know nothing has hit the tailgate. This morning while talking to my neighbor I noticed this little dime sized dimple on the tailgate that I hadn't noticed before.

Dime-sized dimple on tailgate. Difficult to capture up close, but becomes more obvious from further away.

The good news is that a dent specialist can take that out pretty easily. Check with a reputable body shop, they will have one or more on speed-dial. Or you can try to do it yourself, but understand that if you don't do it right the first time, you could turn it into a much more expensive repair!

I was wondering/worried it could be something my friends with a Ram told me about (https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?t...dimpling.2719/) where the inner support pulls the metal from the inside when the auto-open was used.

Definitely not a baseball, but I suppose maybe something/someone tapped it in the parking lot. Sucks

I'll check and see. I may end up doing nothing (it is a truck after-all), was just hoping it would stay looking mint for a little longer.

Grocery cart in the parking lot? I've used my "Auto-open" countless times and still no "dimple" in mine (but I park away from other vehicles and cart corrals in parking lots).

Always take pictures at the Dealer when you pick up a new or serviced vehicle. It may have happened before you got it. This happened to me with my new Explorer after I spotted a dent the next day and when I called the Dealer, they told me to bring it in and they will fix it even before I mentioned that I had taken pictures before I left their lot. The pictures I showed them left no question of my integrity but that is how my dealership is. Many will not fix it once you leave and complain later of damage. Try contacting your Dealer and see what they will do. Many have dent remover guys on their lots once a week or more.

Interesting to see this. I purchased my 2022 Platinum on 8/8/22. I cleaned it up really nice the next day. I noticed a small dimple that size on the drivers side near the top of the tailgate. I took it to the dealership and showed them. You could see there was a mark in the paint under the clear coat. The dealership fixed it and painted the tailgate. Looks perfect now. I thought it was odd to have a mark like this when new, but maybe there is some sort of issue.

i got this kit when an older person dinged my passenger door
no way was i going after her, she is over 90 and someones grandmom.
under 40 on amazon and i practiced on the garage fridge door
its 98% gone. funny thing is dent access from inside door is right behind the brace bar that is glued to the skin. so its as good as its going to get without sanding , body work and paint

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your F-150 concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

Least it doesn't look like this. Discovered it a week after I picked it up it's on the roof.
