Delay between brake press and push button start
Hello, I have a 22 f150 and first time with push button start, and just wondering if this is normal:
Ive noticed this when the engine has been off for a few mins and im in a rush, if i press the brake and the start button immediately, it turns on the accessory but wont start. If i press the button a second later, it starts. I have duplicated it purposefully and it seems when the engine has been off at least a minute or 2, when you press the brake there is a sound of something happening (injectors priming? Although its not the shudder sound im used to when opening the door of my 2018) and if you hit the button while that sound is on, it doesnt start, or even just delay the start by a second. You have to hit it again. If you wait the second plus for the sound to stop, it starts. I think this is the pattern. Is this normal? I would have thought if it wasnt ready to start theyd just program a delay so you could still press the button immediately after pressing the brake and have it start when its done whatever its doing...

The fuel system drains back the fuel.
You may have noticed in other situations hearing a noise as you approach the vehicle. That is the fuel pump priming in advance (often tied to the driver door being opened).
If you have allowed it to sit long enough for the fuel rail to lose prime, you are likely awaiting the pump to prime. If you have exited the vehicle and came back, seems it should prime. If you have never opened the door, perhaps it's lost prime and didn't get the advance warning to 'wake up'.
