Default Console shifter problem

This morning I stopped at the car wash on my way to work. When I pulled up on the track and tried to shift into neutral the shifter would not move. The attendant stopped the track and it took me almost a minute to get the shifter to move. When I got to work it happened again. This time I could not get it to work and I shut the truck off. I pushed the start/stop button a few times and the computer moved the shifter to park. Both times there was a light flashing on the gear indicator. Has anyone else had this problem?

Do you have the folding shifter?

Not sure what year/job/trim you have, but there were a couple gear shift module updates released that were meant to address issues with the shifter. I don't know if what you described was one of the items addressed or not, but that's where I'd start, especially if you have a '21 truck.

Hey there! Can you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your truck's shifting issues.

Just curious if you got your shifter issue sorted out? I have a 2022 Platinum as well and am noticing some odd behaviour with the shifter. I often shift by feel, that is number of clicks. More often now I think I should be in D only to look down and see I’m in neutral. Other random shifts including significant delay between executing shift and transmission engaging.

I had that problem on my console shifter. I lowered the shifter and then raised it back. I haven’t had that problem since. Knock on wood.

I haven't had a chance to get it in to the dealer yet. I am in my busy time for work and have need my tuck, I will get it in soon though and let you know what they find. It has happened twice since then, but not as bad. I really like my truck and this is the only problem I have had.

Sometimes I've had this happen and I realize that it's because I had the truck in ACC mode, not started (power on, engine off vs power on engine on).

Similar issue with similar result.

I notice the last time this happened that the detents were all forward from the Park position. So, while the truck was in Park, it would not shift to any gear, but it would go three clicks forward towards the fold cavity and stop. Turned truck off, cycled the lowering feature, and when it was back up, it would then not move forward from Park, but shift into R-N-D like normal.

I have had issues shifting between D and R where the shift interlock wouldn't actuate as well. 157", so 3 point turns are very common, but I was lucky enough to only have someone waiting on me once. It hasn't happened since the above event a week ago.
