Console Safe Questions
I finally got my truck. I've been adding a few accessories that i've accumulated over the last couple of months. One of the things i've put off is getting a console safe. I'm leaning toward the one available from Ford.
1. Do you have one and like it what's the brand?
2. Do you still have access to the USB ports in the console.

I have the KR with the center console (plus 2 bucket seats) with the Ford authorized console vault. I really like it, I keep my fob in it (and some cash) constantly.
I just checked, and if there were USBs there, I sure don't see them now.
Though to be honest I don't even use the ones near the wireless charger.

Don't know if there's any changes between the 2016 and 2022 with the center console layout but I can still access the power port with a Tuffy console vault. BUT you will have to be creative on figuring out how to route the USB cable outside of the vault.

According to the Console Vault web site the safe does not block the USB ports on 2021 and higher models. Ford F-150/ F-150 Lightning Full Floor Center Console Safe 2021 – 2023 | Console Vault . The install instructions show that the inside of the vault is not solid but is basically a bottom, front and rear and top that creates the box. https://www.consolevault.com/assets/...VIS-1100_A.pdf
I have the console vault and really like it. At first, I didn't like it because it wasn't what I was used to. I was used to using the center console for stuff that I need to access regularly. The other less frequented stuff went into the glove box. All of a sudden that was gone. The vault was great for my gun and my money but seemed like it took the other stuff away from me. I ended up using the smaller glove box on the top for my frequently needed stuff, the lower, larger box for the less frequented stuff, and the vault for my gun, money, and checkbook. After a short adjustment period, I now love it. It's a solid addition to your truck at a very low cost. If you don't like it you can always remove it, but I'll bet you a dollar to a donut that won't happen.
I have a Wrangler with key-matched locking hood and under-seat storage from www.tuffyproducts.com. I’ll likely purchase their F150 console as they will match the key.
The security is good enough that I can store a firearm under the seat with the top and doors off the Jeep.

I just ordered the Console Vault today with the upgraded (top of the line) lock mechanism. I'm planning to customize the interior to suit my storage needs. I don't expect to defeat a professional crook (gang) but I do expect to deter smash and grabs, curious grandkids, and neighborhood delinquents. We'll see.
I have the Leatherseats.com wireless charging console lid, so I just drilled a hole for the USB cord through my vault lid. You could easily access the USB A and C ports inside the console with the vault lid open (just not through the closed vault door, obviously).
The ConsoleVault is the Ford one, but when Ford runs their sales it is actually cheaper through Ford. It's a 20 minute install. It is surprisingly sturdy, and while it would only inconvenience a determined thief (i.e. a battery powered angle grinder would eat it in 10 minutes tops), most guys are smashing a window and grabbing what they can see (many won't even check the center console, vault or no). Anything that was made with tools can be unmade with tools, but ALL vaults are just buying time. For what most of us have in our trucks vs 95% of troglodyte car pirates, the console safe might as well be Fort Knox.
