Our '21 Lariat lease finishes in November of this year so I'm starting to look at new trucks. I am 100% happy with our 2.7L in the current truck and would get a new one with the same engine if it was available. Did Ford give any reasons for discontinuing the 2.7L in the Lariat? My first thought on this change is that it doesn't make a lot of sense. How does the fuel economy of the 5.0L compare to the 2.7L? I don't tow so I don't need the 3.5L with its higher fuel consumption.

Is Powerboost a no-go? Ford essentially made it a free option.

It's purely a numbers thing and their system for breaking down data is probably more sophisticated than what we know. Ford probably looked at how many 2.7L engines that were being ordered in higher trim F150s and decided it was not worth having that option and just another thing they could axe to streamline production by increasing efficiency.

My guess is that the take rate was lower than 2% which just complicates things in a year where Ford deleted a lot of options, made them standard and simplified a ton of truck builds.

The 3.5L is a solid engine. I had the 3.5L in each truck. I didn't have timing chain issues, but I did have the cam phasers replaced on the 2019.

I tow A LOT, so for me the choice was a no brainer, if you don't tow, then the decision becomes harder.
Respectfully...

I'm going to need more than seats to dazzle me into forking out $95,000 cdn for a new (identical) truck!!!
Thats a trade in of my current truck valued at maybe $40k plus another $55k ??? not a chance!!

I have had several bad 3.5 ecos and while I am sure many have had great experiences...
I am going to continue to stick to the 5.0 which serves me very well and gets far better fuel mileage than any ecoboost I've ever owned!!

And...in spite of what everyone says about the 2018+ 5.0 engines... unlike my 3.5 ecos my V8 is still running strong and tows all my trailers just fine!!

With that said, Ford has done a spectacular job of completely fckng up the configuration packages for the F150.
I can no longer get an e-locker with 3.55 gears in a 5.0!! WTF?!!!
And the price increases...!!!

My advice to the OP...consider a GMC Denali or a Ram Limited...more options, better quality at a lower price.

Can't argue with your comment about confusing configuration and packages. I can't find any mention in the build configurator of some things I have now and (may) want on my new one. Where is the rear tailgate stair? What about front and rear proximity sensors? Where is Ford CoPilot 2.0 and CoPilot Assist 2.0? I've been through the packages and see no mention of them. What about Sport bumpers vs chrome? Where did that go? I don't want onboard GPS but there's no mention of it. Is it buried somewhere? What will be the earliest date to order a 2025? I have my current truck until end of November.

Edit: Body coloured bumpers seem to be part of the Lariat Black package which includes a number of other things like black wheels and a black grille along with other things. The tailgate step seems to be part of the Bed Utility package but only for XL and XLT. Lariat gets something called the Pro Access Tailgate as part of the Bed Utility Package (which isn't described anywhere).

I haven't had any oil consumption, or CD issues with my '21 F150 with 5.0.
I drove several and decided I liked the NA power of the 5.0.

About 3 weeks ago I bought a 2023 Lariat 3.5 with the PowerBoost at 7.2kw generator. I bought a left over which only had just over 1k miles, paid around $55k for it and got 1.9% financing. LOVE the truck

Have you actually looked at the F150 page? Ironically, they've done a good job at describing a few of the things you're questioning.
