Cold Air Intake
Hello, I recently purchased a K&N CAI for my 22 3.5. I read the instructions and it cautions you on the importance of disconnecting the ground cable on the battery. It warns you that doing this will cancel out all of your stored settings. It also warns you that you will need your access code for your radio which it said should be in your owners manual. I looked all through my owners manual and I find nothing in the way of an access code for the radio. What is the reason for disconnecting the battery to begin with ? Does anyone have any experience with this ? Thanks in advance.
Disconnecting the battery is a safety precaution when removing any electrical components.
In this case, there is what, one plug? No big deal. Otherwise all you are doing is removing one air box and filter with another. Both are CAI systems, one just looks nicer.
Not sure where they get the radio code thing, but this is the 2nd time in as many days I've heard somebody concerned over having a radio code now. Odd.
I've had my battery (2016) disconnected I think 2x and have not had to do anything to my truck as for as resetting or reprogramming anything. Or it has been long enough that I have forgotten, however I'm older than you and resetting a radio was something we always had to do, perhaps I did it out of routine because its normal.
If your case though, probably no need to disconnect the battery only to unplug the one electrical connection on the intake tube. Unless you plan on touching the wire terminals with a paper clip or something equally as *****. ha
I suppose I could go one step further and suggest, the battery disconnect will prevent anything 'odd' from occurring when you plug in the electrical connection, like a glitch for example.
