Default Chip Hold

Curious how everyone feels about trucks that have been on chip hold for a while. My order went into production in January and has been on chip hold since. Not sure how I feel about it sitting for that long. Wonder how others feel. Thanks for sharing.

Chip supply is only going to get worse as Russia has overrun 50% of the country supplying the worlds raw materials needed to produce the chips.

Mine has been on chip hold for two months. I envision hundreds of birds crapping on it.

Heard the parking lots are directly under most bird migratory routes.

Oh heck do not forgot honeybee droppings they are much worse than any bird droppings

Get real people chip hold setting or vehicle sitting on the dealer lot until someone picks it out.

Set back and chill out.

Have one on order since 12/27/21 and not a issue.

I think the main thing Ukraine has is Neon, which is used in bleeding edge fab processes. I don't think that would play into vehicle chip shortages. The Neon thing mainly means that TSMC/Intel/Samsung are going to have a harder time expanding a year or 2 from now.

A shortage of neon would affect ALL semiconductor foundries worldwide.

Ukraine is home to nearly 70 percent of the world's neon gas supply. Suppliers extract neon from liquified air using an expensive and complicated process called fractional distillation. While this might not immediately seem like a gigantic auto-industry item, this particular inert gas plays a crucial role in the manufacturing of nearly all semiconductors foundries around the world. Neon is a crucial component used during a manufacturing process called lithography. If the supply of neon gas is interrupted, the world may find itself reversing course back to sky-high prices and limited component availability. Fractional distillation isn't something that you just "start doing somewhere else". It's not that easy.

Ukraine also produces around 7% of all wiring harnesses for global automakers.
