Question Ceramic Tint? Worth it?

I am about a month into owning my 2021 F150. Any time I get a new vehicle, one of the first things I do is get the front windows tinted to match (or as close as possible to match) the rear - I like the look. This time, I was offered a ceramic tint option, which based on some quick research seemed like a good idea.

In your experience, is ceramic tint worth the upcharge? I am also interested in hearing if anyone has done something like a 90% ceramic tint on the windshield and rear windows/glass. if so - was it worth it in your opinion?

It's worth it if you do it all the way around. Doing just the front two windows to match the back isn't really going to yield the results as advertised. When I get mine I'm doing 20% all the way around including the pano roof and windshield, although those will be a much lighter tint.

That's what I was thinking as well. I did 20% on the front two, but I don't really want the rear or windshield any darker. In order to really get the benefits, I am thinking I need to go all the way around.

they do make like 80% ceramic. It’s very slight darkening but much improved heat rejection. I’m doing those on the window and pano.

I have full ceramic on my '21 F150... to include the windshield. I a VERY happy with the tint. I have always gotten my windows tinted day one of owning a vehicle. I have a friend that owns a tint shop, and he was telling me about the ceramic, and I was sold. It blocks roughly 80% of the heat from entering the vehicle, which helps a lot! It will still get "hot" inside, on a blistering Summer day, but it is soo much easier to cool it off, once the A/C is running. I would say typically if it were 100 degrees outside on a sunny Summer day, your UNTINTED truck (depending on paint color / interior color) would be 130+? Normal carbon tint does not really do anything for the heat. The ceramic will help, and your truck would probably be 110, I'm guessing? I am so happy with my ceramic, I am going to have the carbon tint pulled off my Corvette, and have ceramic installed.

One of the perks of ceramic, is they make a pretty much clear (untinted) film, that has all the heat / UV rejection qualities... so you can do the rear windows, back glass, and panoramic without darkening it. Just FYI.

I’m in Southeast FL & have 15% on all sides & back, 45% on the entire windshield, all ceramic.

I had this exact setup on my 15 F150 since new. I didn’t truly appreciate it until I bought my 21 & only had the factory tint on it for a bit. I had an appointment scheduled to get tinted 2 weeks after I got the new truck but ended up bribing my way to the front of the line after a few days because I couldn’t take it.

it makes a world of difference to me. Interior was hotter, arm rest & console were “ouch” hot when I got in it, & I felt like my left arm was getting sunburned while driving. I was constantly squinting, I hated it.

all those issues are resolved with the install of the ceramic tint. I think it looks great to boot. I won’t own a vehicle without this exact tint setup.

That looks incredible! Could you/would you share what the cost on that job was? Also - are your roof and b-pillars wrapped? That's an interesting idea, and looks great.

Initial ceramic tint went with 35% up front, 5% over factory on rears and back window. Wanted darker and laid 2% over the 35% up front, left the rears the same, and laid 2% over the 5% on the rear. Ready to pull the trigger and lay 70% on the windshield. I've gone dark on all my trucks (5) not less than 5% all around and have not regret going that route. We get sun all-year round and UV is much stronger here in the islands due to our obvious relative location.
