Tonight out of the blue I got a Check Engine Light. I checked the Ford App and the message is "Service Engine Soon Warning...alert is on because an issue has been detected with the emissions system..." I have a cat-back exhaust but no other modifications. 2021 F150 XLT 5.0 SCREW 43k miles . Common message? possible ideas?

No difference in driving but I took it easy on my way to work tonight.

 

Swing by a parts store and get the code read.
Do you have the Ford Pass app?
Any message or alert there?

 

Pull the code with a scanner. It could be a lot of things like 02's or possibly the cat's. I would check this out soon!

 

FordPass app just gave a generic message that an issue has been detected with the emissions system and this can can cause reduce performance and fuel economy.

code reader is on its way and should be here tonight.

 

OBD2 scanners are so cheap ($20-40) for the generic codes like this one that we should all have one.

If I had to guess, I might be blaming the cap less fuel system. Emissions warranty is 8 years and 80k miles. .
