So now that these are offered on the F150 just wondering if anyone had any experience with them like on an Expedition or something else. I was just gonna go with Bilstein 5100s all the way around but I’m wondering how these CCD shocks are. I had Bilsteins on my 2016 but my 2019 still has the stock shocks and they are terrible. Just wondering if anyone ever had a direct comparison between Bilstein 5100s and CCD shocks.
Ive heard some talk about this CCD suspension coming on the 21+ F150s but have not seen a single truck with said suspension nor can i find a single article stating that the 21+ F150 is getting it, all i can find is info on the Expedition. What i can tell you is that last week i installed King Coilovers and King Rear Shocks on a 2021 Limited and the truck did NOT have any sort of CCD suspension on it. Yes there is a sensor on the drivers side upper control arm and on the top side of the drivers side leaf spring but i believe those sensors are for the auto leveling headlights.
I know the car magazines praise the electronic dampers on the Mustang as a game-changer. I was interested in placing a re-order but my dealer said I would lose about $2,500 in incentives. I am still on the fence about keeping my order or cancelling and waiting until next year. I think CCD is close enough to a game-changer on the F-150 to justify. However, I couldn't buy a truck, right now, for anywhere close to the deal I have pending with my current order.......decisions, decisions.

It is a Job 2 offering so it can be ordered now but none have been built.
I definitely wouldn’t trade a great deal for something that may never get built, lol.
I think we (forum people) like to think that the F150 has a super complicated suspension. It’s really the same as a wagon on the rear axle, and basic struts on the front. Ok, now add an electronic dampening **** that can be turned by the same computers that cause hard shifts, busted cam phasers, and alarms in the middle of the night for a ghost trailer, lol. My Mt. Bike literally has a more complicated suspension than my truck.
Now, F150 adds CCD (and some payload lights that tell you things a MAN should already know). Cool, as I like gadgets. I believe it will smooth out a pothole here and there, and maybe be noticeable if you never change to e rated tires, lol. I don’t know if it will have selectable modes. Like sport, off-road, etc. That would be nice, but doubt it’s “game changing” on a truck.
It literally only changes dampening (compression?, rebound?, both? independently?), not spring rate, travel, ride height; so it can only do so much. Based on how many people on here use 5100s, most would ride around in sport mode all the time. Remember the mustang and explorer have coil overs at all 4 corners; that’s another world.
So, I think replacing suspension components to get the ride you want specifically would be nicer than “factory” variable. GMC has had this for years, but I wouldn’t trade my truck for one.
Not trying to talk you out of getting a new order in, but I think you’d be just as happy with what you have…sooner.
Next year’s question: “how in forscan do I get these shock errors to stop after I replaced my shocks with aftermarket?” 😂
