Question Carplay and replying to texts?

Hi Folks. Carplay works fine, but text messages that come in don't offer the option to read them out loud and reply to the phone that is currently synced. Can someone please explain how to do this?

Both my phones are Apple. When I click on the F150 screen for messages it says I have to allow it - but I have text allowing turned on. Notification for texting ALSO is turned ON for Carplay and both phones carplay are linked to the F150 as it's the only vehicle of mine with Carplay.

What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance.

I had this issue at first. I then held the button on the steering wheel a little longer and Siri came on. So now I hold the button a bit longer.

As to hear the text you need to go into the CarPlay screen and select text so it shows up on the left side under the map icon. Then when you get one it will show up so you can select it.

if this isn’t your issue then I got nothing

When CarPlay works, ( it's currently having one of those I won't recognize your phone weeks) responding to texts and WhatsApp messages has been real easy. Just follow the prompts.

I followed your instructions and YES, if I press and hold the button, I can tell Siri to send a text and she did it perfectly fine. Thanks ....

But .... when I receive a text message I do NOT get a prompt telling me through the system that I have a new message nor a choice to listen to it. This is something I want to figure out.

On your phone

Settings
General
CarPlay
Select your truck
Customize
select Messages

Next
Settings
Bluetooth
Select the I in the circle

That is where I would start.

All else fails forget the Truck on your Bluetooth and in Sync and redo it.

For those following ......

This worked >>>>

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Notifications, then turn on Announce Notifications. Tap CarPlay, then choose any of the following: Announce New Messages: CarPlay starts your drive with Announce Messages active and reads your incoming text messages aloud.
