I guess you could try this stupid thing, but there is a reason no one is responding because it's a dumb idea.

When the alternative is letting the battery die do you consider that the smart idea in my situation?

I think you should look at the link to the 14th gen forum I posted before David as it has several owners that have installed this exact solar panel and their experience with it. One has taken a lot if data and posted their results with it. Typical of the regular posters and members of that forum, which I enjoy more than this one and typical David type responses.

obviously I saw that ... no need to post the same thing someone else already posted.

It is correct that any stored vehicle needs a maintainer for the start battery to prevent the reduction in battery performance. There are many low cost solar panel controllers listed on Amazon. They specifically control the output to proper levels for any 12v battery.
Another question is what size panel to get.
I am shocked that the Ford offerings are so expensive.

Yes thanks. I was hoping someone out there had experience with this and could recommend a reasonable kit which included the solar panel controller and wires.

Check out RV forums for advice on solar charging. If you can put a solar panel on top of your truck or bed cover it would solve the problem. Complete kits are available. Thin solar panels can be stuck on with quality tape for a no hole install.

Keeping a backup power brick might ensure you can get started after a long time parked.

edit to add: How about a quick disconnect switch on the battery?
