ok so yeah, does look like the 70+ pound range.... though that one link indicates that the step alone might be 46. 46 not too bad.
Truck isn't going to have the bed utility, looks like. I think I'm OK with it. I see how it could be useful but that just seems like a big hit for a tailgate step. Maybe add an aftermarket step if necessary later. Powerboost so trying to keep payload up as high as possible... Not even sure how often I'll even need to be climbing up in the bed anyway. Hopefully not one of those things you later find out you wish you had.
If you are truly worried about the payload on a truck that will have a CGWR of 17,000lbs then might as well just step into a XLT F250 especially at the prices some Lariat PB can hit.
*I know, I know it'll ruffle some feathers but too many people hone in on being EXACTLY at payload while ignoring how that payload is calculated. Go read the SAE performance standards where then Ford calculates the payloads.

I use the tailgate step just about every time I need to get into the truck bed, but then I got a truck to be a truck and haul stuff around. I have had numerous trucks over the years and once I got the tailgate step, never looked at a truck without it again, especially since my young bones aren't as young as they used to be.
Ford’s Body Builder site (Body Builder Advisory Service (fordbbas.com)) used to list F-150 option content weights, I guess they stopped doing that after 2021. The 2021 F-150 Specs R1 lists the tailgate steps/box lighting/cleats total weight as 72 lbs.
Old fart here that started stepping into the back of a 1950 F1 Ford Pickup in the early 60's.
Partial bodily damage report prior to the modern F150 tailgate bed step.
10 stitches putting little finger back together, 1 broken wrist, 1 broken elbow, dislocated shoulder, bruised shins to many to count, threw out the back, one knocked out cold when hand slipped.
Damage report since having the F150 tailgate step since 2016, nothing to report but also always always have my own personal seat to enjoy a cool adult beverage.
On the lighter side about worrying about the give or take 70#'s the tailgate adds. Heck could lose that much weight here and the tailgate weight would be covered.

My ordered truck showed up with it. I didnt order it. Kinda like the step as i get older and i truelly forget i have and dont use it most of the time. If i ever get a topper or small slide in camper i could see using it. However, Ive had the handle pop down within the tube and ive also had it fall downward each more than once while stepping down. About to a helluva fall twice. So i dont trust it. I dont push down on it for leverage. I just push it to the sides in cases is collaspes again.
