I just bought a new 2024 F150 XLT with the tow/haul pkg and a build date of 11/24. The window sticker shows 3.55 MAX TOW E-LOCK REAR AXLE and 7100# GVWR. The door sticker shows AXLE L5. This L5 axle code does not show up in the 2024 F150 Towing Guide. Attached is a photo of the axle codes in the guide. Hitch sticker shows hitch is rated for 14,000#.
I'm a bit confused why the axle code is not listed in the towing guide. Anyone else have the same L5 axle code?
Mine is the same. I think the issue is that we have an XL5. That would be the max tow 3.55 where XL7 is the max tow 3.73. Maybe they can’t print 3 characters on the label?
Here is the tag on my axle. This is a 3.55 on a 9.75. Not sure what the “S” is. I could only find C=Open/Conventional, L=Limited Slip, E=Electronic Locking Differential. I assume 9.75 C=Max tow with 9.75 B being the regular one.
On a side note, is this the recalled axle? They keep selling until permanent fix?

The Ford “L5” code is for a 3.15 non limited slip differential and gear set.
I’ve got a ‘24 STX with the 3.55 and the E locker add on. My door sticker shows L9. Hopefully that can help you decipher yours by compare and contrast.
