Default Auto Stop Start reinstallation, is it possible?

Hi All
So I just took delivery of my first F150 2022 - 2.7 Ecoboost XLT (sport pack). I noticed on the window sticker when I was sent it that auto stop start and Sirius XM had been removed, Even though they came as part of the package. I did get the $200 (Sirius) and $50 (stop start) credited back. Sirius I don't mind as we have it on our other car and so i have it as an app that plays on carplay.
The Auto start stop I really wanted though. I live in SoCal and traffic is terrible when in town. I know this was taken off so they could get me the truck quicker, given the chip shortage, but I wanted that feature. I would happily pay $50 to have it put on. But I suspect, it isn't as easy as getting the chip, installing the button and you are done?
Can anyone advise if Ford will do this for me, I can't get an answer from my dealership.

I live in southern California too and the auto-stop-start in my Cheyenne turns off whenever there's bumper to bumper traffic because the battery gets depleted from starting the car all the time. Consequently, I've learned how to avoid the engine from stopping without using the button to shut it off by going very slow instead of a full stop. However, I like it when I'm coming up to an intersection and if I know the red light's going to be a while, I push the brakes a little harder and bring it to a complete stop to activate that feature. I suspect it'd be the same in a Ford F-150.

The worse traffic is the less I would want it.

wait….now I’m confused: I thought this feature delete meant that the truck always runs and it won’t turn off. (Which I wanted) Does this now mean when coming to a stop the engine shuts off and I can’t hit the button to keep it running?

The auto/start stop delete is an option they started which keeps the engine running at all times. I think the OP wants it because of the traffic in their area. I think it’s rather annoying when the truck shuts off because in my experience it’s only off for a few seconds at best before it starts up again. I can’t see how this is a large benefit in the long run because there are many times it’s off for a second or two and then immediately starts back up because traffic starts moving or because of my AC needing extra power.

Had stop / start since owning a 16 2.7 EB and got use to it, now with the 22 2.7 EB.

At times stop / start could be useful but also think of the annoying times when parking that the truck shut off only to restart when put in park.

Your better off with out it.

If you want a true stop / start system buy a Power Boost.

The starter they use for this option is extra heavy duty. For many starts everyday. If the option is deleted I would bet they use the standard starter to save on cost.

I got rid of it on mine as soon as I could. To me it just seems like excessive wear on all the parts over what you will really save in gasoline. There are a lot of threads on it and reasoning as to why manufacturers are using it. My fear, probably increased because of some of the stories I have read, is it not starting back up after it shuts off at a redlight.

There's alot more than just the starter involved. The transmission has to hold your vehicle in position and despite you being in Drive, then allow the engine to start the moment you press the accelerator the release auto hold so you can move off...

Having driven automatics and stick shift cars with stop start, I'm happy not to have it.
