Default Auto Start/Stop automatically disabled on start

Hello,

I've enjoyed reading through the forum researching the purchase of a 2021. I bought a pre-owned 21 Platinum 5.0 yesterday and I love it so far. I noticed that the auto start stop system defaults to off when I start the truck. I get the dash message "auto start stop disabled by switch" without having pressed the switch myself, obviously. Is this a Forscan mod the previous owner may have done? I looked at the Forscan spreadsheet but didn't see anything that looked exactly like what I'm seeing.

If you turn it on, does stay enabled the next time you start the truck? If so, sounds like it could be a device like autostop-eliminator.

No, if I enable it with the switch it will be disabled next time I start the truck. It does work fine when I enable.

It's a feature, not a bug.

No, not for the 2021. It defaults to an "on" position, but the OP says it defaults to "off" position.

Correct. When I start the truck the amber OFF light is illuminated next to the button. I'd think that'd default to "on" ie light off. I can't find anywhere in the settings that would cause this.

I've got a similar situation. I picked up a 21 XLT and the *** stays off without manually turning it off. The *** button is not illuminated as off but yet when I come to a stop, the little *** icon shows up in the cluster showing off. I've not taken apart the housing to peak behind it for the aftermarket eliminator module, but it definitely stays off.

I am not sure if these are like the last Gen. Look under the dash at the brake peddle and see if someone unplugged a cable by the switch. If that is not it to the OP have you driven it long enough distance to get the battery fully charged? Not a bunch of short trips, but one long one?

Other then that I got nothing.

you guys that have it default to 'off' are lucky - I hate this feature. I hate that feeling of hesitation when
I start off from a red light...
