Wink Auto 4WD Harshness

I am curious if others have any issues with in Auto 4wd with thier Powerboost with some what I would call NVH grittyness in Auto 4WD. Basically, I can feel when the truck is in Auto 4wd with high frequency vibrations and NVH though the accelerator and floor when accelerating from slow speeds. In 2WD, nothing.

I has been that way since new, put it in Sport Mode and the NVH is amplified 10 fold.

On the highway, no difference but again low speed accelerations if I had my eyes closed, I could 100% tell you whether it is in Auto 4WD or not.

BTW, for those who may not know the Accronym NVH = Noise/Vibration/Harshness

Not a powerboost but I don't experience any of this with my Auto 4WD. Pretty transparent and I'm hyper sensitive to issues like the one you're describing.

I am super sensitive to these things and it sucks because it takes away from the enjoyment of the truck. In the Winter I would just like to leave it in Auto but find myself dropping it out to 2wd because I can't stand the grittyness of it.

No physical issue, 4wd auto functions just as it should, just with some harshness.

Wondering if it is ralated to the Powerboost?

I have a 23 Lariat PB and my experience has been pretty smooth. In Iowa and so far have had many options for nice weather, cold weather and snow.

Every 4WD truck I have owned in the last 25 years I can tell and feel when it’s in 4WD/AWD, including my ‘22 F150. The modern F150’s I’ve owned are by far the smoothest, but I can still feel it.

Doesn’t bother me at all and I’m pretty sensitive to things like that. I like knowing that it’s engaging and working.

I can understand if it bothers others. Especially if it vibrates a bit more than normal.

I am going to try differnt combinations to see if it is islolated to the transfer case or it is actually something in the front driveline.

I have a suspicion it is from the transfer case clutch so I will try it in 4wd as it should be almost locked up.

I am guessing the dealer will tell me it that it is either normal or will say they can't reproduce it.

I can feel it normally as you can feel the steering tighten up a bit but this is a pronouced vibration with throttle you feel through the steering wheel and accelerator.

Feels like a bad engine mount basically but it is not present at all in 2wd no matter how much you dig into the throttle.

My previous Ram you could feel that it was in Auto as you could feel a bit of rotating mass with the front drivetrain spinning but there was no change in the NVH in any mode.

One of my previous trucks, a 2020, did this. Neither of my current 2022's do this.

Double check to make sure the locker button isn't pressed.

The rear locker is not engaged and it is in Auto 4wd.
