Apple Car play issues
New guy here with new truck
Sometimes the apple car play works and sometimes it don't. Sometimes, the apple car play will connect right up but then sometimes when I select which phone, I get a "apple carplay connecting" circle spinning, for a while then it just goes back to the phone selection.
What's wrong here?

By the way, this makes no sense to me. Why would sync4 care I’d I have hot spot on? Isn’t it just Bluetooth when not plugged into the usb?
Mr Google told me it uses both. Bluetooth to get connected and then WiFi to stream the user interface to the vehicle's screen. I'm personally not clear how it uses WiFi if one hasn't set up the network in vehicle settings. Mr Google was silent on that one.
Same confusion here.
1. The truck seems to generate two wifi identities on your phone, one is PROJ something, the other is Hotspot, both have their passwords.
2. the phone can connect with truck by bluetooth, it can also connect via wireless carplay, so can connect to the PROJ and Hotspot networks....
Now, I figured that the wireless Carplay uses the PROJ wifi identity. So, if you want to enjoy the ATnT hotspot (Hotspot), then you are opting out of Wireless Carplay.
3. I also learned that the two USB ports do NOT support "USB hubs". Now, the problem is that one of my "USB hub" is a simple hub, the other is a Anker "adaptor hub" (more complex), my Toyota is able to take a USB splitter or hub and accept two ipods. Ford in 2022 refuses to take a USB hub????
4. the 2022 Ford also fails to recognize my old ipod?!? so it can only accept smart device??

Now I’m getting confused. If the truck is generating a hot spot, doesn’t that mean it has to have a cell service provider (such as AT&T)? Is this paid by ford or is it a service I need to subscribe to and pay for.
BY the way, This is a new truck so I may have some temporary services and features for a short period of time.

Hi there,
Similar issue for me with the wireless CarPlay. I've had my '23 Platinum for about 1.5 months. The wireless CarPlay has worked flawlessly from the day I bought it up until 2 days ago. I was driving along and all of a sudden, mid-song, the wireless CarPlay disconnected. I was unable to manually re-activate it (I get the same spinning circle thing described above but it never connects). I have tried deleting the phone and re-connecting it. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I've done an iOS update on my phone and according to SYNC it is up to date, so no SYNC updates to install. I've even gone so far as to add my phone manually to the wireless app projection Wi-Fi (According to the Sync info, if CarPlay is enabled it will connect to the app projection Wi-Fi automatically, but I connected manually just to see if that would resolve the issue, but it seems that the app projection Wi-Fi doesn't turn on unless it detects CarPlay through the Bluetooth connection).
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue. I basically have to reconnect my phone to Bluetooth every time and even then, it's 50/50 whether the wireless car play will work. The wired CarPlay works just fine. I have the B&O Unleashed, if that makes a difference...
Anyway, I'm thinking the next step would be a factory reset but I thought I'd ask here for any tips before doing that.
Thanks for the help,
Mike
