This was a crap move by Ford.
A) Their suppliers probably promised parts for orders through last week
B) So is Ford. If they’re idling a plant for lack of parts, they’re not selling you a truck and they’re carrying the cost of a plant that doesn’t produce anything.

You weren’t ****ed by Ford. You were ****ed by Ford’s suppliers, who failed to honor their contract to deliver the parts for your truck on schedule. To be fair, they probably got ****ed by their own suppliers or port delays too. I pity anyone who works in supply chain right now. When it comes to delays and parts shortages, you have to see it to believe it.

Yea, this is on the dealership. You should have just placed a regular custom order versus taking over theirs as its not a customer order no matter what once it placed. My guess is they had allocation in January left over and they placed it as dealer stock. Sadly, dealer ordered powerboost are probably more rare than anything else.

I used to work for a Fortune 500 company, it requires an extraordinary amount of skill to keep everything balanced especially when your device comes from at least 50 separate manufacturers. Ford is in a similar predicament right now. I had a hunch Ford would not be honouring the 2022 prices in their 2023 like they did for 2021 to 2022 in the form of a PCO due to the large price increases in the first half of 2022. If you didn't receive your VIN, I think you're out of luck.

Wasn't overly fancy truck, but had the off road package and some other stuff. The dealer we bought it from ordered it for their inventory in December. We signed the order form in March. It wasn't built yet so we had time to make some changes on what they had on order. Dealer made the changes and we figured it was going to be awhile, not the end of the world.
Found out earlier this week Ford cancelled the order. We were told -by Ford- that we could re-order a 2023 at the increased price because prices are going up and the chip shortage affected a lot of people. Pretty much told to pound sand. I've literally bought (2) 2021 F-150s in the past year and I have 2 other F150's sitting in my fleet and one F250.
I was really disappointed in the whole deal and reconsidering where we go from here. I'd of been completely fine to be told it was going to be a while and we may get changed to a 2023 (we ordered a 2022). But nope, even with a signed order 2 months ago we were told it was cancelled. The Dealer is livid and we're out of luck. We had a topper on order and a bed slide. I can get those cancelled I think.
Was the truck still classified as being ordered as a stock unit when it was cancelled?

Again, a signed DORA is considered a legal contract. So your blanket ambiguous statement that it is not is false.

I guess you didn't really read my post even though you quoted it. Go back and read it again slowly and see if you can still spot where I said a signed DORA was a contract between the buyer and Ford.

Some parts of the country have lots full of vehicles. Others, lucky to see used cars on them.

makes one wonder what’s really going on.

I drive truck OTR so I drive past lots of locations and it’s not just fords.

people claim RV’s aren’t available… bull. Go take a drive and pick out what you want.

boats are the same way.

can’t tell me these dealers have 200+ campers/boats/vehicles on the lot and everyone of them has a sales contract.

what do you think, will mine get canceled? I ordered on May 7th and I made my last change on May 12th. Lol

Yeah. If you want a travel trailer there is a huge amount in town here. If you want a new vehicle, there are very few though.

Good question I don't have an answer for. I'll find out.
