Default Any regrets?

Any thoughts on purchasing a half ton over a f250? I’m looking at an f150 5.0 3.73 package. Test drove at dealership. They had a f250 Stx package with standard output Powerstroke there as well. Drove that after salesman told me k should give it a look. Point being I can get the f250 with diesel for about 2k more OTD. What’s everyone’s opinion?

If you tow heavy and think you’re near the limit of a half ton’s capability, get the 3/4 ton. If the half suits your needs, the 3/4 will be overkill and a waste of money and fuel.

I recommend the 7.3 gas motor over the diesel in the super duty trucks.

It all comes down to personal preferences. Do you really need an F250? Is the higher cost of the F250, with higher maintenance costs and more at the pump justifiable over F150? Only you can answer those questions.

Personally I would love to get an F250, even though I don't really have the need for it. I just couldn't justify spending more, and keep on paying more just to drive it.

A few year ago I had decided to go with a SuperDuty, test drove one with the 7.3 Godzilla engine and was immensely impressed, not just with the power but with the ride, etc. Still, it was just THAT much rougher riding than the F-150 that I hesitated and decided to think about it, and then the perfect F-150 showed up at a local dealer so I got it instead. I drive my truck maybe 5,000 miles per year, and only for towing the boat or camper or doing 'truck stuff', like getting firewood or lumber, etc. My boat is my biggest tow and it is just under 7,000 pounds so well within the F-150 range. But if I were to need to tow much more than I do now, and more frequently, then I would go with the F-250 with the gas engine.

As we age a Super Duty get pretty darn high to get into and out of.

Power retractable boards go from $1000 and up AMP being the most expensive starting close to $2000.

Now in a 4X4 302a XLT and need power boards for entry and exit.

Bonus is nobody else has ever complained about them.

If you're towing anything over 8,000 lbs regularly, the F250 would be a no brainer in my opinion. The F150 will likely have a max payload that'll limit you as well. But 3/4 ton isn't going to have the nice cushy ride the misses may want. The other thing is the added length that can become an issue in small parking lots.

I drove a few superduties from 1999 thru early this year. I am loving the ride and MPG of the F150.

If you don't need the capacity get the F150. This decision is like choosing the right tool for the job. No need to pound nails with a sledgehammer.

Unless you need a Diesel to WORK and I mean work that engine to make you money or it's needed to tow > > > I wouldn't touch ANY new diesel.
They're overly complicated, problematic, difficult to work on and extremely expensive to repair.
Thank the Government EPA with all their emissions bullcrap making the once simple, reliable diesel just the opposite.
I still have my bought new 1988 F250 XLT Lariat Super Cab 4x4 with the great International 7.3 diesel paired with the simple and reliable C6 transmission > > > I would buy this truck all over again. But a new/newer diesel... no way.
