Default Android Auto and the radio

2023 XLT. When I have android auto on, I can't listen to the radio. To do so I must first cancel android auto, which means I loose the map directions I am using on android auto. Is there any way to invoke android auto and still use the over the air radio?

I do it every day, my phone connects when I fire up the truck and I have the map screen on listening to local radio on my drive to work. Never seen the issue you are talking about. MIne is a 2024 XL. Maybe see if you need to update your software (both phone and truck) and dis-connect your phone and then re-connect it. It has to be a SW thing I bet.

As I understand there are 2 connections. Bluetooth automatically connects to a cell phone that was previously setup. With bluetooth connected you can play music from your cell phone. Android Auto is a separate function and once connected it will mimic several apps on your phone and display them on the truck screen, one of which is google maps with directions. Without Android Auto google maps will not display and you will not get directions. So in my instance when I connect Android Auto the map and directions display and the audio automatically switches to Pandora radio because that is what is on my phone. If I select Audio from the truck screen menu followed by source (FM in my case) the radio goes on but I loose Android Auto and the google map.

I use Android Auto everyday with Spotify. If I switch to FM for a while, I can push the Android Auto button and utilize my Google maps while still listening to FM. Never had an issue. Works whether I'm connected wirelessly or tethered.

Android Auto should still be an option at the very bottom of the screen that you can select after you have selected fm radio as your audio source. When you press it, it will bring the android map back up but keep playing the radio. There is also an option somewhere to not auto play from your phone when it connects.
