Advice on ordering
Hello everyone,
I'm wondering if I can get some advice on ordering my truck and the process I'll need to go through. After months of research I've finally landed on a 2024 F150 Lariat probably with the 502a package. One of the reasons I've landed on the Lariat is that I feel it's a good compromise between the options I want, while maintaining decent payload and towing capability. However, I am concerned about maintaining a certain minimum level of payload, especially since I won't be able to see the truck first. I believe I know what I want and I've built my truck online. Needless to say, I am not finding it on a lot anywhere so I am believing I will need to order it, however I have a few questions:
1) I'm assuming I need to work through the dealer. With that understanding is there anything I should expect when approaching the dealer on ordering the truck I want? Should I expect the dealer to push back on ordering the truck for me, as I would think they would be more motivated to sell from their inventory. 2) As mentioned I want to maintain a minimum level of payload but I've learned the difficulty of estimating payload. Is there any way I can confirm payload early in the process and revise my order if necessary before going too far down the build process? Is that something the dealer can or will help me with? From many things I've read on this forum, I'm not expecting a lot out of the typical salesperson. 3) At what point in the ordering process am I committed to the vehicle? Is there room to change my order or back out of the deal if it's not what I'm looking for? My honest thinking is if I am willing to pay the price for a new truck, I should at least get what I really want.
This is the first time I've ordered a vehicle so this is a new process for me. Any advice from others' experience is greatly appreciate.
Thanks for all you do on this forum.
