Additional Security for 2021+, ( plus new idea?)
As some of you may know, my custom ordered 2022 Superduty was stolen a few months ago. I'm now back in a F150 now and looking for additional security options.
I've reached out to an installer about the "ghost" security system. Its fairly pricey, but I may end up with this option if I do not find another option.
I was wondering if anyone has come up with a theft "deterrent" solution. Or what others are using.
I was thinking about putting a switch similar to a "kill switch", but for the shifter. Essentially pressing the button to put the shifter down, then switching the power off to it from a hidden switch somewhere in the cab. Making it so the thieves cant bring the shifter back up to put it in gear without switching the power back on to it. The things I do not like about this idea is that it may start throwing codes if the computer senses no power to the column shifter. As well as if the switch were ever hit by accident while the truck was in gear, and moving.
Any feedback welcome.

All good ideas, but if I had a brand new truck stolen, I'd want to know how first.
Then, I would move the **** out of whatever **** state that is. Colorado? NM?
Vehicle theft have gone through the roof in my area lately as there have recently been shipping yards popping up in close proximity.
Very little policing in my town as well which is a shame.
I bought a faraday box that I keep my keys in once I get home. But that doesn't protect me when I'm out with them in my pockets.
The thieves are looking for easy (expensive) targets. Any fobbed vehicle fit that description.
My key was copied remotely and all security & GPS was shut off on the truck within 3 minutes of them being in it.

- Add a cellular tracker device.
- I like your idea about the shifter, but instead add a switch to the brake pedal switch. That will cause the interlock to remain engaged.
