Default 709 miles…

Quick backstory; bought a new ‘25 f150 XLT BAP 5.0 V8 3.73 4x4 two weeks ago. Love the truck so far. This afternoon when driving home from work I was coming up to a stop light and was almost to a complete stop when I heard a loud clunk. At first I honestly thought the person behind me rear ended me to put it in perspective. Continued the remainder of the way home and never experienced anything further from additional stops on the way home. Anybody experience this? Should I be concerned? I have noticed a slight “whine” over my time with truck but heard this is normal for the f150. Is that accurate? Sorry for the questions just wasn’t expecting something like this as the truck has less than 1,000 miles.

The “whine” is a characteristic of the 10r80, nothing to worry about, the clunk-slam isn’t normal but there have been numerous ppl reporting this. I have 32,000 miles on my 2022, I have experienced the clunk-slam about 10+ times usually when truck is cold. The challenging part is if you bring it to the dealer, there is nothing they can do at this point. I’d give it some more time-miles but closely monitor.

I get the same in my 2021 every so often around 6th gear. Ford has clearly not addressed the problem and never will.

With so few miles, your transmission is still learning your driving habits and the shift patterns. While it is discomforting to hear and feel such things, it will go away pretty quickly. Just drive it. Plus, if it does all go to hell, you are still covered bumper to bumper. It's actually an amazing transmission.

A correction is in order.
The TCM does not learn the driver's habits.
It adjusts to the Transmission wear and changes over time and use as the only permeant performance feedback link, it has.
It has no way to know who is driving at any given time or for how long.
Consult Ford description for this.
Good luck.

My 2024 RCSB did it very early. I went to the dealer and they said I needed not to baby it. I started getting more aggressive and all has been great since. I have since back off on the aggressive and all is still good.

Beat it like you stole it!! JK The 10 speed seems to do this for some people, I would drive it some more and see if it gets better. Mine never did that but there were some harsh down shifts that went away over time. Now my trans is smooth as silk. A little over 15000 miles now.

Mine is also smooth as silk now. So fun to drive! Like gagliano7 says, drive it like you stole it!
