Yeah, when I got my 500A, it was about $1500 or $1600 more than the 302A with my configs/options, and for me that easily covered the 4A, 12" cluster, and ventilated seats. I also considered the leather a plus.

Yep, I suspect part of why Ford killed it was people started to catch on. Aside from not liking leather or if XLT rebates were just insane where you were, I couldn't imagine getting a 302a over a 500a. It was just so much better truck for negligible amount more.

Before someone says it, I covered rebates. I know that XLT rebates are often better than Lariat. But not always by a huge amount. When I got my 502a the rebate difference was "only" $500.

Default It’s a great swap

Don’t listen to the naysayers. I’ve done a few of these swaps, and they’re fantastic. If you buy the new transfer case from Ford, it comes with a warranty as well, I don’t think it’s as long as the powertrain warranty but the parts less warranty, nonetheless. And swapping the transfer case should have no impact on any other warranties as long as you don’t screw anything up.

I will add that I did a Raptor transfer case swap on my lariat, because the lariat transfer case will not hold the power when you put a Whipple stage two supercharger on it. So there’s many different variations and reasons for the swap.

Also, as it was mentioned, there’s configuration changes that have been taking place from 21s and 22s. The big thing to look out for is finding the right transfer case controller depending on whether you have front IWEs or not.

And a note on the warranty issue. Worshipping warranty is kind of silly, you’re better off having what you want. Case and point I have a 22 Lariat with trutrac limited slip, a raptor, transfer, case, and a blower on it. getting warranty on anything other than the transmission, and even then would be an uphill battle.

But it’s as quick as anything on the road, and can do anything a truck can do….except get warrantied lol…..
