Default 21 windshield recall

My 21 has a recall regarding the windshield needing reset as it could come loose in a crash. The local ford dealer says they can’t address it as they don’t have a body shop or glass repair. I asked if they could sub it out to a local auto glass company and they said ford wouldn’t let them. So I have no nearby dealers who can do the repair and they are saying they can’t sub it to an auto glass company. So how do I get the recall completed?

You find a dealer that can do it. Might not be nearby.

You can ask here and get answers maybe the right one maybe the wrong one. Or you can cal Ford Customer Service and ask them what you should do.

How far is the next closes dealer? Might be your only option. Your dealer is miss-informed or is out right lying to you. I took my truck to the dealership for the window recall and they had a glass company come out to do the reseal on mine and several others at the same time. My dealer has a body shop but chose to sub the job out and they told me that when I made the appointment. I’m sure the dealer has to be the one to initiate the call to the glass company for the recall. My dash cam picked up part of the reseal job before they unplugged it as the glass company parked their truck in front of my truck.

In all the years in the car insurance business, I don't recall any cases where dealers actually replaced the glass. They always sub the work out to local glass shop.
