Default 21 Lariat APIM replacement

I am thinking about buying a used APIM because my navigation never loads. Circle of death.

I have read and tried everything to possibly fix it. I haven’t gone to the dealer so they can diagnose the problem so I might do that before buying the part just to make sure.

So my question is how hard is it to program a new APIM module? I have FORScan already and have used it but I am not an expert.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your question, but the APIM would need to be a matching part number and software. By putting an APIM with the wrong p/n and/or software on these newer Sync 4 vehicles, you can open a huge can of worms if the truck syncs up with the server and there is mismatching data between the truck and the server, so I would be very careful with this project. It is not as straight forward as people think.

Before you do anything, message me the VIN to see if I see anything that can help.

Totally agree

I would pull the part number off of mine before I buy another. As for the software not sure how I would know if they match.

maybe buy from the same year and model of truck I have but my truck also came from Canada.

I will send you a PM.

Thanks

I really hope it's different now than when my 2018 APIM went out. The dealer was a real pain as they needed multiple videos and examples of the issue before Ford would warranty it. Sounds like yours is repeatable at least.

I haven’t taken it to the dealer yet.

I am out of warranty so I was going to use them as a diagnostic tool so I k is exactly what is wrong before I try to replace anything.

My truck is out of warranty
