Isn't that a dealer installed accessory even when factory ordered? Like mudflaps for example, which are also dealer installed.

a lot of that stuff is still shipped with the vehicle to the dealer so it will hold up build times.

I though it was a DIO, but no worries, I'll put one on after the fact when it comes in.

The only concern I had/have is had I not stopped in, would I have found out the holdup, or would it have been weeks before someone reached out???

I’d be surprised if they reached out at all since they didn’t say anything when you submitted the order. They get a weekly update of all constraints for each vehicle they sell so they should have known when you placed the order or shortly after that it was an order constraint.

I haven't ended up ordering from Ford yet at this point, but I did watch a Long McArthur Ford video about the process and they mention at least once in one of their how-to videos that you should avoid anything that could be a dealer add on in the order process IF you're concerned about how long it will take. It sounds like those non-factory items always delay delivery, so if that matters do that stuff later, like tonneau covers or bedliners, etc. A good dealer will also tell you which trims or options are likely to cause delays too; might not change what you choose but your expectations can be more realistic up front to where you won't feel like you were kept in the dark.

Local dealer in CT loaned their 450mi '24 STX to a friend of mine while his truck's in for service. It was the first '24 I had seen out in the wild. I really like the seat design in the STX with the yellow stitching. Other than that the interior felt a bit bland, as it would for an STX. I am unsure how I feel about the all digital gauge cluster, but I didn't get to play with it much. If its customizable, that may sway my decision. As I do this the 21-23 STX, I like the grill/nose of the truck. I still cant get past the tail lights though. All in all, nice truck, but without more features (i.e. HUD), its a pass for me at the moment.
