Default 2023 PB vs 3.5EB

I’m all set on a 3.5EB but I’m not going to lie the PB intrigues me. I’m the type that puts 30k miles a year primarily highway driving and keeps my vehicles for a long time. Is the PB something I should seriously consider?

If you do a lot of highway miles, you will not see any gains running a PB. Most Hybrids really shine in city and stop and go traffic. I believe the current gen of F150 Hybrids still has some kinks to work out. A sales rep at a local ford dealership recently confirmed/agreed with that staement. I was tempted as well, but might give it another 2-3 years for some improvements.

Based on this, I think a 5.0 V8 is more the suitable choice!

can you explain? I currently have a 2.7EB in a 2016 with 237k miles. I feel like the EBs are flawless for the most part nowadays.

you are correct. The most efficient engine (and possibly reliable) is the 2.7. There a lot of “pride” in one’s f150 choice especially from those who pick a small v8. This site is flooded with illogical back and forth rubbish on the topic.

The powerboost is less reliable than the other engines. Not saying they all have issues but there are a few. However, as someone already said, the benefits is mostly city driving so you won’t see benefits in highway. There are also some compromises bc that battery takes up space and payload,

Isn't the 2.7 the most reliable engine in the line up. It is a great daily driver that makes it's power at lower RPMs than the other choices. Probably can also deliver the best milage of the lot on long road trips. The 10 speed makes it ever better than your 2016.

I bought the Powerboost manly for the pro Power on board, and I do a mixture of City / highway driving
Also bought a 7 year 120K extended warranty just in case.

I would have definitely gone with the 5.0 otherwise and mainly due to the simpler maintenance (IE no turbos etc)

You stated in another post the 3.55 axle was a must, and the 36 gallon tank a high priority.
PB's only come with a 3.73 and the 30 gallon tank.
I've put 15,000 on my PB in the last 4 months, sticking at or near posted limits, mostly highway, and 21-22mpg are about it.
Hope this helps!

We just purchased a 23 power boost loaded lariat for my partner, driving around Seattle/Bellevue it spends 90% in gas mode. He came out of a 20 2.7, if he knew what he knows now 2.7 all day!
