2022 Powerboost LIMP MODE???
hey guys, brought my brand new 3.5powerboost home this weekend.
Truck had 100km on it. Got half way home after using rest stop on 401 highway and then the following symptoms:
- no power accelerating on ramp (thought I was going to be rear ended entering highway)
- truck shifted up to 10th gear but would not go above 1300rpm no matter how much I pushed the throttle
- Loud grinding / whining noise, maybe brakes stuck on?
- I really could only hear the electric engine going, since the truck wouldnt go above 1300 rpm all I could hear was the grinding / whining
- pulled over on highway, powercycled truck, carried on no problems
- No alarms, no engine check, no warnings.
- normal drive mode, didnt do anything different
THIS SEEMS DANGEROUS
- Ford Dealer never heard of this ! says all good

We’re driving computers. Sometimes, they don’t boot up correctly and as you correctly surmised, you have to hit “ control/alt-del “ and reboot it.
many people get momentary alerts, primarily during the first thousand or so miles or say 1500km. Especially if trucks sat dormant for a while before purchase. I had a few messages first few days. But nearly 3000 miles in first month took care of any battery related charging issues….

Yeah, any codes and that show up in OASIS, dealers can check them with your VIN without the vehicle being there. This was possible in last gen F-150 also if it had the connected modem option. Looks like the FMC rep already responded here too. Either way the dealer will get it taken care of, and if you ever have a low power/grinding sound issue again, do not floor it.

I had the same issue with my 21 PB. Luckily I was just leaving a gas station about a mile from home. Next morning it started and drove fine. I drove straight to dealer. They said they couldn't find anything wrong even thought I showed them the dash picture with all check engine warning lights on... its never happened again at 49k miles
