I think you're correct, but I notice the small silver button to the upper left of the shift lever appears to allow you to "stow" the shifter in the down position. In the other pics, it appears that there is a recess for the shift lever if you choose to use it.
The lower "drive mode" **** might be it, but I hope for dedicated driveline controls separate from the modes. I think people will be irritated with them if combined.

I guess the F150 is a luxury car then. Do you know how long it's been since the F150's shifter actually performed its work mechanically? It's all just for show now.

What purpose would a shifter stow thing possibly fill?

Just came across these. Credit to torq.offroad on Instagram. Looks to be either an XLT or Lariat Sport. Also noticed that it looks to have super duty-style side emblems/vents on the front fenders.

I believe this odd flow is because that's not the production bumper, I seen pictures somewhere(cant remember where) but it was a 2019/20 bumper being used on the test mule.

im betting a lot of people will swap out for that grille over the chrome one. not a fan of the non tow mirrors but that's just my opinion. it looks like we are very very close to the reveal.
