Keep in mind that Ford considers workers when designing their trucks. The location of certain things may play into that. Its the same reason Ford still uses the analog door pad and locks on the truck as opposed to the Fusion. The digital dash on the Explorer and Mustang have different configurations so I'm sure this will to. But you are right, this isn't the best I have seen.

I try to check up on this thread every now and then. Were those exact pictures posted over a month ago? I don't know how I missed them. I recall seeing one or two blurrier pictures of the interior with someone in the driver seat, driving the test mule. But I don't recall seeing these exact pictures before today.

The shifter is not a stow away. Not sure where that idea came from. Try to hold of on judging the interior quality until you see it in person and can touch and feel the materials. Remember Ford wasn't trying to copy Ram they are trying to build the interior that their customers were asking for. When you are the best selling vehicle of any kind in the U.S. for 37 consecutive years you can do things like this. Coming from a Ford Employee.

Damn that is really good. I'm sold on the interior.
Fully digital Dash
Huge touchscreen
Manual climate controls
Redesigned steering controls
Heated steering on/off button (Finally!!)
What's the stowaway shifter for/? Any purpose behind this? Just more room?
And what's that above the 12V plug? just an empty placeholder?
Still not a fan of where the USBs are located. I hope they're at least fast charging.
One more thing, I love the digital dash, but this seems a bit too cartoony, no? For example the Audi's dash design is a bit more elegant. Still I'll take that over hard gauges anyday.

1- what's up with the sea of tiny buttons that are impossible to use with gloves?
2- the start button is now located in a weird position, looks much better in the current gent
3- what's that weird button under the passenger vent?
4- the trailer assist is, well...too prominent now...makes no sense to me since it isn't used on a daily basis...would be much more functional to have the 4x4 toggle there
5- where is the 4wd button??? did Ford replace it with a....'drive mode selector' ??
6- I also don't see buttons for the TC, etc...not sure where they'd be - above the screen?
The current generation interior is a lot more interesting, Ford should have kept a good thing as is and just added a big screen - like in the Chinese Explorer....:

it sure does, and look there's the hole????? where the shifter is supposed to go as well - like why? LOL....
it looks like a Jeep Grand Cherokee style shifter - aka electronic....they could have gone to a round design instead.

are you??? we had seen this before...the interior is a lot less interesting to look at and from my perspective a downgrade:
