I've had 17x9" wheels on my non max tow truck since new (+25 offset). About 1/4" to 1/2" clearance just like you're seeing. No issues.

Thanks for the reassurances. I thought it would be fine but man that's not much room to work with.

I can see the concern but two static parts will not touch regardless of terrain. Clearance is clearance in this situation. I used to run wheels on race cars that cleared calipers by millimeters. Once you clear they will never touch. If your worried about something getting stuck in there like a rock per say, it would be the same for a wheel that cleared by an inch as well. It just takes a bigger rock so you're back to square one. I wouldnt worry at all if I were you just be sure you get the right offset to clear your rear calipers.

Out of curiosity, what is the wheel and tire combo you’re running?

I can confirm first hand the 17" Raptor wheels hit the rear calipers on a truck with 350mm rotors. I can also confirm they do not hit the front calipers. As Redwood22 shows above, other 17's will certainly work depending on the offset.

Now that I am putting them on my 2021 for the first time, they seem like a very tight fit. There's about a 1/4 inch clearance with the caliper as you can hopefully see in the photo. The truck came with 18 inch wheels.

What do you guys think? Too close or am I worried about nothing?
You are worried about nothing !! My two 2016's......1 is 18'' the other is 17'' & are exactly as your picture shows....Have had both rims on each truck !!
As someone above pointed out 17'' is a option size on these trucks !!... A 17'' rim is the minimun you need for desired clearance !!

I have been running them with no problems whatsoever. I was just paranoid that something changed with the 2021s.

Default Method 316 17” wheels fit 2021 Max Tow Package

Can confirm that Method 316 17” wheels with a 0mm offset fit over the larger 350mm rear rotors that come on the 2021 Max Tow package. Care needs to be taken with placement of balancing weights, but they do fit!
