Default From a 15 to a 21 Thoughts

Moving from a 15 Lariat to a 21 Limited, there are a few items I kind of miss. First is my 15 was a six seater and the cup holder was way more convenient than the cup holder in my 21. The dash screen I typically had displayed was the off-road display which I truly dislike on the 21 it makes the Speedo and few other times smaller and I just don’t like the overall look of it. I pretty much love everything else, just a little disappointed in the Bass in the B&O unleashed and will probably add a hideaway Kicker 8 or 10 somewhere. The main annoyance is the wireless charger CONSTANTLY loosing connectivity to my IPhone 12 Pro Max… That and I tend to leave the phone in the car cause I forget I put it on the charging pad. However with the deal I got and dropping my payment by $50 a month I am extremely happy with my decision to order a 21 dispute a couple little things I will get used to.

Glad you mostly like the change. Dealers LOVE to see payment buyers walk in the door.

While extending the number of years you'll be paying it too. And you had a 6 yr old truck that wasn't paid for?...

You'd be surprised the terms folks go for these days lol. Like someone said above, dealers love when it's all about the monthly payment.

I asked the sales guy and the finance/paperwork guy today about the APR on my financing and neither could answer. Fortunately the finance/paperwork guy was smart and went and looked it up. I didn't get the best rate from Ford Credit, but there's no prepayment penalty, so I'll be refinancing shortly and saving another 1½% on the interest rate. I've heard horror stories on "what payment can you live with" so always ask what the financed amount will be and what the rate on the loan is.

Didn’t do too bad I used my credit union and got under 4% which was a touch better than Ford offered. Since we do payments twice a month and autopay they drop them another half percent when we finalize the payments at the bank. Thanks to the used car market the total financed amount and APR was way under what I anticipated which allowed me to order the limited instead of another Lariat or Platinum

Nothing wrong with telling a salesman at a dealership what you want your payments to be, IF you do it right. Just say “I want my payments to be $400 for 60 months, you can charge whatever you want for the truck, you can add all the fees you want, as long as it comes out to $400 for 60 months”. Don’t settle for $425, don’t settle for $407. That’s how you play the “what do you want your payment to be” game. Just make sure you double check the finance term length on the contract before signing to make sure they don’t extend you out to 72 or 84.

I had a 2015 xlt cc 6.5ft bed for 5 years and loved it. No problems at all. I traded it for a tacoma because I wanted to downsize. The tacoma was a nice truck but the seating position was uncomfortable and I missed the full size feel. Traded tacoma for 21ext cab stx about 4 months ago right before the shortage got bad. Ive had numerous f150s... 2015 was 5.0 which was a great truck. This 21 is the 2.7 EB. Im loving it so far. Getting used to the ext cab doors is prob the only drawback but I wanted the 6.5ft bed and not the length of the crew cab with it. So opted for ext cab.

Nothing wrong with going over your desired payment at the dealership. When I bought my 14, they asked me what I wanted to pay. I said $1.00 a month.

The 21 drives a lot better and feels like it has more power than any of it’s previous. Each year the technology increases, but my abilities to utilizing it aren’t. My analog brain does not du well in this cyber age.
