Default upgraded intercoolers

I was reading all I could on MPT's website because I am considering tuning my EB instead of trading for a new 5.0. Whatever tuner you prefer seems that an upgraded intercooler is on their list of recommendations. So how do you know if the fancy new intercooler you buy will actually help? Reason I ask this is MPT tested 2 intercoolers that they sell. One of them didn't seem to fair too well.

I had a Wagner unit and it was fantastic. Plus the fit in the stock location with the stock connectors made installation a breeze. I'm a little surprised how much better it did than the AFE in that test, considering the size of the AFE.

I wish they would post their results from the full race and mishimoto since they sell them all.

I have the wagner in mine. It fits perfectly on the prior trucks, problem is on the 17 the transmission cooler is in the way but that really isn't a big deal, unbolting it and moving it out the way is ok for now until i figure out what to do with it.. I am either going to delete it and see if i can retrofit the 18+ transmission cooler onto it, or get new lines and make a bracket that moves it upwards more.

Look at what the core construction is and the pressure delta across the core. I’ve always preferred bar and plate to tube and fin. The less pressure drop the better.

Not sure why the wagner is being ignored, it works REALLY well lol. Even making the turbo cry trying to hold 20 lbs of boost at 6k the intake temps don't creep up during a pull.

it isn't being ignored by me. I was (am) surprised with the AFE results and wonder how the average consumer would know that they might have just pissed away a big chunk of change.
