Decided to take my truck out to Emerald Coast Dragway (1/8th mile) today and see what it could do. My truck is a RCSB 5.0 2wd lowered 3/5 with 3:15 gears, open diff. Tires at 305/40/22. All stock otherwise except for cat back 4" MBRP exhaust.
Weather was low 70's, light breeze at basically sea level here in North West Florida.
I spun just a little the first 2 runs but after that no matter how I left it it would not stick for anything after that. I did not warm the tires until the very last run but it still spun anyway. I tried it holding the brake up too about 2200 RPM's down to 1500 with traction control on and off. Even spun with traction control on.
This was my first
time at the track and it showed. Reaction time wasn't great and it took me a while to figure out I should leave when the 3rd yellow light turns on. Overall it was a lot of fun. Best time was a 9.060. I will definitely go back but have a few things I want to do to make it better first.
Sounds like you had fun. Stick around and ask questions. We have quite a few experienced people here who are always willing to offer some solid advice.
I'll start off with recommending a custom tune from any of the top tuning companies. That will be the best bang for your buck to shave some time off.
If you plan to continue going to the track often I would also recommend you getting a 2nd set of wheels with some drag radials.
But, that can get expensive so it may be easier to ease into the pedal at launch so you won't blow the tires.
Also, try not to change too many variables when you're making runs. One thing at a time and see if you've made improvement.
ECD is a fun place. Ryan is working his butt off to make it successful.
Yea it seems like it. I have been a few times to watch and it's always run well. He has done a lot of work to the facility since he took over. They have added an area to do some drifting and I think a little pit bike track for small dirt bikes.

Yea definitely had fun. A few things I want to do in no particular order is gear swap, tune and an intake. Figure that will give me some good gains on what I did today. I did 8 runs and tried something a little different each time. Guess I should make a change and then run that a few times to see before I try something else. Have to admit there is an art to getting off the line smooth. I have a lot to learn including my truck.
Your truck has a lot of potential with the right mods, especially with the all aluminum body. My one suggestion would be to plan carefully with your mods, and don't do anything that's difficult to undo or make the truck harder to sell if you decide to trade for something else. If it's a vehicle you see keeping for the long run, then that's different. Don't get me wrong, I like my truck a lot, however if it were only lightly modded instead of as is, I would have traded up for a truck like yours a long time ago.
That's a sub 9 second truck with a good launch. Could be 8.7's with traction even
A well prepped track and a locking rear diff would go a long way. After a locking diff I'd go with the tune.

Plan is to keep it for the Long haul I think. Only had it a couple of months. I do understand what you are saying though.
