No need to change them unless there is an issue with the stock setup.

Agree'd. Seems like the Ford OEM plugs are what all the tuners recommend anyways.

3.5 or 2.7?

If it's a 2.7 the stock plugs are fine even tuned. If it's a 3.5 run the stock 2.7 plugs, they're one step colder.

Still won't need the colder plugs with the current setup

****, we're talking anywhere from 30 to 50% more power. I used to tune hondas and going from 200 whp to 300 whp required a heat range 8 from stock 7. going turbo and running 400+ required 2 steps colder to a 9.

You don't "need" a colder plug but one step colder on a hotter tune is definitely a good idea for a 30-50% increase in power.

Consider that the 2.7 runs the colder plug stock and the 3.5 doesn't. That's because of the airload the 2.7 sees, which once you tune a 3.5 they will be similar.

I just wouldn't even bother with the risk of preignition for 35 dollars in plugs...

NGK 6150 Iridium IX, an equivalent to SP542. I use these in my BCB tuned 2.7 gaped at .026. 10000+ miles since changing and runs great, did get a noticed idle improvement (smoother), over the OEM 542's. KM
