Default To shim or not?

I’m in the process of acquiring the necessary parts to lower my’13 3.5 SCrew (4WD)
Im going for more of a street look. Front suspension is completely stock height, rear lift blocks have already been removed. I have about 1/2” rake the way it sits now. I will be replacing the front strut assemblies with 2WD units (complete assy’s, new, ready to install).
From the research I’ve done, this should drop the front end 1.5”. I will also be installing 2” drop shackles in the rear. This should give me a completely level 1.5” drop.
Now for the question for all of you performance truck “Guru’s”!
With the lift blocks removed and 2” drop shackles, should I be worried about shimming for pinion angle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to order parts ASAP!
Thanks, Mike

You should check the pinion angle after suspension installed and adjust as needed..

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I’m guessing I should get an assortment of shims to have on hand then.

Not really unless you just wanna waste a bunch of money. Just put it together, run the working angles and it’ll tell you exactly what it needs...then just grab that and slap it in. It won’t kill it to drive easily for a day or two.

I’m looking online and seeing +/-2.5 degree shims. I’ve seen others but they seem too steep of an angle. Not seeing any kind of an assortment kit. Does the 2.5 degree shim seem like the “popular” angle for the amount of drop I want to achieve?

That’s great to hear. I don’t drive it hard. In fact, I don’t drive it MUCH anymore so I could shim after the install.
Id assume I would experience driveline vibration if I needed shimming?

Yes, if it's smooth now and that changes once you drop that is exactly where I would start. I have a RCSB, lowered and it has a shim for the pinion angle. No vibs at all....

I just completed this exact drop.

I used bil stein 5100 rwd front struts on stock ride height.

I removed the rear block and installed shackles. When I installed the shackles I had to cut the bed supports.

I used a 2.5’ shim in place of the rear block and the angle is almost perfect. No vibrations at all.

That’s awesome! I’m still deciding on which struts to go with. I’ve got 5100’s out back already. Can you post up a picture of your truck? I’d like to see what the stance looks like. Thanks!
