I got a new problem and was wondering if anyone might have some insight. And of course this happens on a weekend... My new Livewire has been great. Been running the new 93 Perf. tune from MPT. They got me my new rewritten tunes for the new Livewire quick. 5 Star finally got me the new tunes yesterday. They had to rewrite them because they couldn't get the old files to open.
Here's what's happened. This morning I brought the Livewire in with the trucks Stock Tune file still in it. I used the Updater to save a copy of the Stock tune to my Laptop. From what I understand it's just a copy of the file. Took the Livewire back out and put the truck back to Stock. Started the truck and check for the MPT custom tunes, which were there, and the Canned tune file with the truck info was there (Ford Gas 6.2), something like that. Then brought the Livewire in, used the Updater to do updates, then to load up the new 5 Star tunes. They were a 91 Tow, 91 Perf, 93 Tow, 93 Perf. Also renamed them as 5 Star so I knew whos tunes. Took the Livewire out, hooked it up. Then decided to put the 5 Star 93 Perf. in the truck. I made a few adjustments (Speed limit, etc.), The Livewire saved the Stock tune and then proceeded to do the new tune. After it was done, I have the Livewire set to go directly to gauges. But they didn't come up. A screen popped up saying Data Log Files Not Found. I restarted the Livewire and same thing. So now I'm scared. What did I do. It seemed to run OK, but I put it back to Stock anyway. I don't know what happened. Here are a few screen shots of what ythe Livewire says. I sent a message to 5 Star but it's the weekend. Any siggestions? Where it says Preloaded Tune Support Disabled is where the truck info is suppose to be

OK, so I decided to do the Factory reset on the Livewire. It removed the Custom tunes that were on it, and it brought my truck info back into the Preloaded tune section. Says 6.2L Gas Ford or something like that. I Clicked on it and the 93 Oct tune I use was there. So I went ahead and put that tune in. The Livewire saved the stock tune. When I tried the gauge function thou nothing changed. Under device info it did say it was married. After letting it run for a while, I put the truck back to Stock. Device info now says it's Unmarried, and gauges still not working. So at this point it seems like everything is working, but somewhere along the way the Data Log Files for the gauges have disappeared. When I hit Gauges/Datalog on the screen, the next screen has a Configure button at the bottom of the screen, trying to press that just makes it go right back to DataLog Files Not Found. So I don't know if I screwed something up when I saved the Stock tune to my Laptop, or has something to do with the 5 Star tune?

This may not answer your question but it's what happened to me.

After the most recent firmware update, everything got screwed up. Since the beginning, the TS+ has been slow, difficult to change, unable to dim at night or get bright enough during the day - etc. Most recently, it decided to change all the available gauges, deleted my ability to see boost, and somehow changed the programming so that it never turns off (it drained my battery to 4 volts!), among other issues. Needless to say, I'm moving to HP Tuners RTD+

Here's where I'm at now. First, I just want to say that both SCT and 5 Star have been very helpful thru all this. Second, after this all started, I've been doing alot of research. I've come to find out that there are others who are having issues with thier Livewire / X4 devices after doing Updates. Various issues have been reported including loosing gauges. It's even on the Community forum at SCT website. Yesterday morning I spent about an hour or so on the Live Chat with a rep at SCT. I downloaded the TeamViewer so he could access the Livewire. He was able to reload the files that was needed for my truck to get the gauges back (Ford G 08 Newer). He then waited while I took the Livewire out to the truck so I could test the gauges. The truck was running the Stock tune it. I tried the gauge display and they were there. I went thru the options to make sure the ones I use were all there. The Transmission temp readout was missing. The original Livewire I had before didn't have that, but the new Livewire did. But now it's missing. I came back in to tell the rep that the gauges were back but was now missing the Trans temp readout. He then asked me to put a custom tune in the truck because the option may be there from the tuner. Again he waited while I did that. No change. Gauges were there but no trans temp. Since I told the rep about how this gauge issue happened (first did Updates and then loaded a new tune, then no gauges), the rep seemed to think that I should contact the tuner. So that's were I'm at now. The gauges are back and running but no trans temp readout. It's not a big deal except that it was there before, and it was nice to be able to take a glance down to see it, rather then access it in the truck thru the steering wheel menu. My MPT 93 tune is working fine and have the gauges OK. So I think I'm gonna go ahead and load my new 5 Star tunes to the Livewire and give one a try. Also of note, after the rep loaded the needed files for my truck, when I accessed the Livewire afterwards I noticed all other truck datalog files were missing. Before there would be a list of trucks that I would have to pick from when I initially tuned the truck. They are all gone. Only mine is there. So I'm guessing that the Update is the root of the problems...

I downloaded the LiveLink Gen II from the SCT website. But it's Jiberish to me. It's just stuff I can't understand. After I Had the Live Chat with the Rep at SCT, who was great and got my gauges back on the Livewire, seemed to think I needed to talk to "the tuner" to see if they could get me the Trans Temp readout back on the gauge layout. When I Emailed 5 Star, who have been great, they couldn't understand why the Rep at SCT didn't take care of it. 5 Star also sent me a link for the LiveLink Gen II. Said I should be able to get it back from that. So I downloaded it and spent some time reading thru the instructions and help page, but I can't get it. Just don't understand the terms it uses. I don't know what a PID is or what it does. And other phrases I have no idea what they mean. I guess I'll do another Chat with SCT and see if they can remidy this...

As mentioned before, after getting the Email from 5 Star suggesting I use the Livelink, I went to the SCT website and did the downloads. But I just couldn't get it. 5 Star has been great. I highly recommend 5 Star if you haven't been using them already, and I also need to mention MPT. Thier involvement in the beginning was very helpful. And doing the Live Chats with SCT has been great. So, on Thursday morning I once again did the Live Chat. After briefly telling the rep what my issue was (brief history and my inability with Computers), he suggested he could assist me, but I needed to take my Laptop and everything out and hook up to the truck. So I unplugged my Laptops power cord and took everything out. I connected the Livewire to the truck as usual, then connected the Laptop to the Livewire. Luckily my flip phone has a Hotspot, so without that I couldn't of done this. Once I got the Teamviewer going he went to work. First, it looked like he downloaded a version of the original Ford G 08 Newer file. Tried it and still no Trans Temperature. So he said that he would need to make a custom file and asked what it was I needed. I said all I use is the Dial Tach with needle that sweeps, Coolant temp, and Trans temperature. As he was setting it up he was having a problem searching for the Trans Temp readout. So he had to look for it manually, which took some time. Once he found what he needed he made the file, loaded it on the Livewire, then asked me to try it. It wasn't right. The tach was wrong, and it was the wrong trans readout. So He tried again. Mind you, the Laptop is loosing power quickly, the trucks battery is getting low, and the truck is about 75' from my house under a carport. At this point I've been in the truck for about an hour while he worked. So while he was working, I "quickly as I could" hopped out of the truck, walked quickly to get an extension cord, grab the computers charger, and run it all out to the truck. Got that all set up. Got in the truck and he was still at it. But I had to start the truck to charge the battery back up. Eventually he loaded another file on the Livewire and asked me to try it again. It was ALL There!! He did it! What a Relief... So he asked me if I needed anything else? I just said I was amazed, that they will have a Glowing review and I was very thankfull. The Chat originally started at about 10:45 that morning. By the time it was all done it was about 2:35 in the afternoon. So far the gauges are still working with the Stock tune in the truck, and with the MPT 93 Perf tune. Although I'm not really expecting a problem, I'm still a bit afarid to load the 5 Star tune. I'm 99% certain that it was the SCT Update that caused the issue in the first place. But that still doesn't remove my fear...
