Sai Li return fuel system

I’m finally making the switch to e85 in the next month when I swap my Roush blower to the VMP Gen3. I contacted Sai Li to build a true plug n play return duel system. After waiting on Fore, that was a lost cause. I’m old enough now to know my limitations and didn’t want to tackle this on my own as others have done.

UNBROKEN 01-24-2019 09:33 AM

Hard pass...$1400 for a couple of cheap pumps and some pushlok hose. That’s maybe $600 in parts.

justinb491 01-24-2019 09:55 AM

Agreed, it’s tough to pay it, but I’m at the point in my life that I know my limitations. I know what I can do well and what I don’t trust myself 100% doing. If I had the time and maybe more guys I think I could have done something, but not worth me chancing it.

UNBROKEN 01-24-2019 10:01 AM

What are you putting this on and have they released install instructions yet? I’m curious about what fittings are going where.

justinb491 01-24-2019 10:30 AM

17 Roush Phase 2. Nothing yet. I’m assuming it’s like his mustang kit. Will use factory feed line as the return. Comes with the wiring harness, fitting and aeromotive regulator and gauge. From what the mustang guys say it’s a solid system.

Ecob00sted 01-24-2019 10:47 AM

If your willing to spend $1,400 check out the Livernois Motorsports setup for E85. Less parts and a more simple installation from a Trusted and Proven tuner.

justinb491 01-24-2019 11:46 AM

I didn’t see that they made a fuel system for the 5.0. I looked for months. Went back n forth with Fore. On3 was tempting, just too many quality issues with their parts. There’s really nothing out there that was what I was looking for.

BadCon 01-24-2019 12:08 PM

How much power are you making now, and how much power are you looking to make after the blower swap? The Gen3 is a big blower, on E85 with that blower you can easily make engine destroying power lol....are you gonna do a full internal build? I'll be following this closely, as I'm always teetering on the edge of the upgrade landslide with my 16 Roush truck, but the lack of a proper reliable fuel system has been a limiting factor...that and the question of how fast one must go in a pickup truck lol.

justinb491 01-24-2019 01:25 PM

I put down 603 as it sits now. I’ll be doing opg, Gen3 and fuel system. I’d like to see 680-690 without pushing heavy, but who knows. May only pick up 50hp

Was that just with phase 2 and OZ tune, or any other parts in the mix?

Thank you very much for the kind words, the shout out is much appreciated!

We had just recently posted a E85 flex fuel performance package on the board for the EcoBoost F-150s that includes an upgraded high pressure pump, injectors, and everything needed to convert them over to E85 / flex fuel. I see your vehicle's a 5.0L which we do not currently have our own proprietary in tank pump upgrade for at this time. We have however worked with most all of the major vendors in the industry over the years including Fore, Walboro, and can get just about anything automotive performance wise that exists. So any time in the future you are looking for something like this do not hesitate to reach out, and we would be happy to help find a solution if we do not already have one available.

bumping this up. Ordered a whipple for my 19 f150. Will be running e85 all the time and want to upgrade the fuel system with something reliable. Whats available?

SC_Titan 03-12-2019 10:07 PM

Fore says early summer for double pump setup

We do have an upgraded pump for these trucks, but it wouldn't be enough to support the Whipple supercharger upgrade running E85 unfortunately. So going to a dual pump upgrade from Fore when available would most likely be the best route at this point. I can reach out to see what type of ETA they tell us but the early summer estimate sounds about right.

Looks like I'll be running a DW400 and boosta pump for now, and upgrade when the aftermarket catches up. Any info you can get in regard to what is to come, and when, would be greatly appreciated!

UNBROKEN 03-13-2019 08:18 PM

Why wait? Just build your own return system. You can have it now and you’ll be 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of a prepackaged kit. I might have $1200 at most in mine with all braided stainless hoses and AN fittings. Getting together a parts list is easy...no way I’d wait for someone else.

justinb491 03-13-2019 08:21 PM

Love Fore. Have had their systems on other vehicles. But I waited a year for the 15-17 kit. It was always another month. I wouldn’t hold my breath on them. I ended up having Sai make mine. Great kit, but like Unbroken said. You really could just make your own for much less the price.

justinb491 03-13-2019 08:23 PM

AlsoI don’t see just a pump and booster being enough. You really need a return system.

No problem, glad to help out. I can definitely keep you in the loop as more info and products become available. I was speaking with one of the head calibrators and also agreed with justin that the DW400 and boost-a-pump wouldn't really support the type of demand for your whipple on E85 level of build. We've used similar setups on the Ecoboost trucks and on E85 they even start to fall off just being turbocharged. The main restriction at that point from what we've seen can actually be the fuel line limitations. So on similar builds for the Mustang 5.0L for example running 700+ whp on E85 we run an upgraded twin pump setup with the upgraded fuel lines to ensure it's up to par.

I hope they offer a triple pump setup. My On 3 dual pumps are treating me just fine right now, but I know I'll need that 3rd pump eventually.

justinb491 03-25-2019 09:51 PM

Finally got my truck finished up. Truck is a 17 with a Roush blower, 75mm pulley, VMP throttlebody and headers. With a dyno tune it made 603rwhp on 93. Then switched to a VMP Gen2R with 79mm pulley and e85. Truck made 655. Switched to a 75mm pulley and made 684. I’m not thinking I picked up more than 15-20 with the Gen2R, so a good 60hp increase with the e85 and a conservative tune.

LightningSuperDuke 04-17-2019 02:24 AM

Anybody making a twin pump setup with upgraded fuel lines yet?

justinb491 04-17-2019 06:18 AM

Not that I’ve found. I waited on Fore for over a year. My opinion I don’t see them pushing to get something done quickly. The demand isn’t high enough. I liked Sai’s kit, but as others have said you could build it yourself and save some money. It ended up being a solid kit though and flows plenty of fuel.

LightningSuperDuke 05-09-2019 10:37 PM

Fore is still saying "sometime in the summer"

Tired of waiting for Fore. Will take my business to Li Racing. Install done, tuning underway.

UNBROKEN 10-01-2019 04:43 PM

I wouldn’t do Fore or Sai Li.
I’d do one of Jamie Deckers set-ups if I was starting from scratch.

Spooled 10-01-2019 04:53 PM

Yup Jamie says even his returnless setup will support 1000rwhp easily.

Ecks 10-01-2019 05:11 PM

I 2nd and 3rd this. I've heard lots of good things about his work.
That's my plan once I decide to move forward with upgrading my current setup.
